Recently a friend of mine ridiculed (gently I might add) me for having a collection of film scores. Hey - I love film scores and enjoy listening to them - do you? What are your favorites? Here are a few of mine:

Passion: Music from the Last Temptation of Christ - Peter Gabriel

Mad Max - Brian May

The Fellowship of the Ring - Howard Shore

Braveheart - James Horner

The Alien Trilogy - Cliff Eidelman

Ronin - Elia Cmiral

Definitely Star Wars - John williams.

I think he is one of the great composers of our time.

I like more video game music tracks than film scores... but thats just me.

Lunatique -
I would have to say that of the Alien Trilogy, the Aliens score is the most listened to. "Main Title" is good (nice and spooky), and "Futile Escape" is way too cool.

Conan the barbarian, my favourite score of all time.

Jerry Goldsmith - planet of the apes, first blood, total recall, the omen, the mummy, alien and plenty of other great ones I havent heard yet.

dirty harry, enter the dragon, blade runner, ghost in the shell, the ipcress file, fight club, apocalypse now, T2, taxi driver, north by northwest, LOTR, the untouchables, star wars, once upon a time in the west, blade, way of the gun, escape from new york, the thing, predator and a load more. I love film scores.

Hmm, well, not exactly a film ('cept for the movie based on the series..), but...

Cowboy Bebop OST's - Yoko Kanno (performed by the Seatbelts). Great, great variety and talent.

I dont know the names of the artist in my head so I'll just write the films they are in. It's late and I'm lazy....

Total recall

Blade Runner

Ghost in the shell

Black Rain (love this guy, think his name is Hans Zimmer)

Highlander 1 (maybe it's the beautiful scenery in the movie that makes me love the music I really cant be sure)

Conan the barbarian (mighty score, so powerful and adventures)

Fight Club - The Dust Brothers

not so much fun to listen to the soundtrack on cd, but it goes soooo well in the movie...

I suppose 2001: A Space Oddyssey has to be mentioned as it's possibly the most famous soundtrack like... ever.. =) Disturbingly empty movie though...

That's the impression I got, even though I've never heard the soundtrack. But if it has "Where is My Mind" on it, it's just that much better.

Okay I'm posting this before looking at the replies...
SO here goes,

Schindler's List
Dark City( I love the final piece)
Conan the Barbarian
The Green Mile
Braveheart
Superman(the "Can You Read My Mind" score )
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly (marvelous)

There are sure as hell a whole lot more but these are the ones i enjoy listening to, especially while painting, cause theyre very inspirational....

Yeargh!!! people agree with me!We have the same tastes!
Conan the Barbarian's score kicks ass!
Everytime I hear the theme score I feel like I could pick up a broadsword and go into battle...
