This is more like hour/hour and a half. I took a hybrid approach and modeled basic geometry to get shadows and perspective right. Feel like I cheated, but when I look at it from different perspective - well.. I've created every pixel here...

Nice work folks.

I just followed this thread for a long time and now I've decided to join the forum and also show some stuff.

So here are two older speedpaintings:

Tomasis- hehe, nice results! i think the thing with starting that way is knowing what to eliminate, easy to get confused shapes!

Mayk-niiiice.

dennis.sedov- its gonna be hard to draw to perspective with that sortof angle! So make a grid on a new layer! aside from the drawing (which is 90% of everything and hardest to critique specifically) i would probably work on atmosphere- i think the central building looks better in the first because the lighter value gives some breathing room. Doesn't mean you need to eliminate all detail, but probably rework it abit as you add atmosphere. There is a chance to work with colors in a very interesting way, this blue vs. red scheme, hinting at purples? you could get into something novel here!

Howie-love the stills!

BWwwaaaaah! can't beat myself up too bad cause its first try with splashing water and trying to show this monster scale- it just has that look like it can't decide wether to be loose or finish, means there is alot to simplify and rework here-
