Munin- thanks! I write every little idea down, then they start wiggling around and connecting... its sortof a problem cause my sketchbook has more notes than drawings, not even counting my journal. so i made a rule that if i have a new idea i have to try it before i can write it down! Then i can write about what happened! wooo! I wanted to ask you about your brushwork though- how do you go about that? Sounds general i know, but i see alot of 'floating' marks on real simple massy back shapes and i wanna know the secrets!

This wudn't speedy, made the mistake of looking at some of LINRAN's work and the surface effects were killin' me, had to try something similar- I'm starting to get an idea though where this texture stuff might work and where it dudn't. blown out lighting kills me- it doesn't work lazy like some midtonal stuff can.

Lemur! been watching this thread for a long time and your progress is so marked over the last year or so, your thoughtful posts are always a joy to read and understand, stunning work man, I love the edge work and lighting.

Sorry for this mess, I was scribbling over a 3D model I been working on in Maya.

Captain Hook Cool

The NorthPole is melting down, releasing it's cold to Continent.
But we cannot gether the cold and put it back to where it should be,only by humanbeing.
It is thinning.
The NorthPole, like a huge pump in occean, colds the seawater, makes them heavy, sinks them to seabed.

Fighting with perspective turned speedpainting to slowspeedpainting.

Not without appropriate phallic symbols:

thanks guys! means alot to hear such niceries from you scallywags Smile

I got caught up thinking on this one. I don't want neat strokes, i want confident ones! starting to keep certain brushes confined to certain areas, good trick i think. Alot of times i'll mess up areas cause i'll go painting from one area into another with the wrong sortof brush, or will try to carve away with a brush that was used additively and the shape looks sloppy. So trying to fix that, its a good trick especially for blocking in I think.

Made this entire drawing in about 3 hours, including the time to color it.

Still digging up old skeletons from the digital closet...

I found an old painting from 2004, that I did not have skills to finish completely the first time I went at it. After about an hour sketching and deleting some where around 50 layers from the psd file it already looks better than it ever was. Confused

First of all, I'm really happy I have these "failures" on the HD, since taking a second pass at these oldies is a great way to see one's development. At least for me it seems to work really well for self reflection.

And also, the lesson learnt that I really like here, is that doing speedpaints really. pays. off!

This is just a small part of the whole painting.

jOuey> Been a while since you post. Conan! Roar!

Attended a talk by Kekai, Sang Jun Lee, Daniel Dociu and Fengzhu last weekend. Very interesting talk. They share their views and experience of the industry and did some demos. Of all, Kekai's method of using the smudge tool to define forms fascinate me. This is an attempt to try out the techniques. Smile

Wonderful works all of you! It's amazing how this thread has been pouring creative energies for all those years.

Some color madness. Oil and Acryl. No skill, pure accident : )
