Lemur, lol does that mean that I am rich? in a logo currency there is..
Tomasis, appreciate it, thx. I really like the simplified you have in these latest ones. Is it your pet? is hilarious.
Sup_Ben, Did I say something I shouldn't have perhaps? I don't think anyone should be listening to my advice lol. Nice one btw, you have an attractive way to render, which is pleasing my eye.
leszek_lenia, those disco dancing have a real appealing light in them
Absorber, wow awesome.
notaf1inga, I appreciate it very kind, thanks. Yea that one I messed around with back and forth, perhaps looks like it was made very easy...
Been working with soft and hard edges lately, putting them to a more extreme so to speak.
Btw here's a larger version if anyone is interested:

Quite on the contrary Matthew. I noticed that you use very strongly expressed perspective in your compositions. That's why I [friendly] called your way to compose "perspective helps"- and it seems to work. Your comments are welcome at any time in any form as usually.
This last one of you has rather intriguing shapes-

RayToh: I really like your latest sketches!
For the August tree thread:
I was looking at alot of plein air paintings for this one. I should be doing plain air paintings though, not just looking at them... Is anyone here doing any of that outdoors ipad sketching? _________________ www.karlsimon.com

Simon Gustafsson and Vahn> Thanks man. Love the work you guys are doing too.
Quintus Dias> The last piece looks epic! Loving it! How do you manage? I love contrast between the detail and the loose parts. Nice!
One for today. Reference the pose from a movie. The rest is all made up.

Thanks for comments guys, very kind.
Hideyoshi, very nice
_HPO, that works really good
Bierberg, cool, looks sweet.
Nide, likewise my man, very nice balance
Raytoh, no magic trick really. Those more symmetry pieces
are perhaps more design than painting. You use layers, cut
out things of importance and then re-assemble them into
something. In the piece beneath here I used the mirror on
the ship design, quick way to get symmetry & then perhaps
delete some things to get some balance.
Interesting approach in yours btw.
Couldn't decide direction on this one, usually I keep flipping and twisting but this one didn't have anything special in any mode. Ahh anyway.

I'll give feedback on the last page from top to bottom posts:
@ Kang_ : great environment, i like the tower and even more the sun behind the mountains!
@ Quintus: Your palette is great as always. I like the sense of depth and texture in your paintings. Hope I can achieve it as well.
@ Sup_Ben: Can't really tell much about the piece. Although it's not logical maybe a variation in poses would have been better.
@ Vahn: Great lightning and great job on the face.
@ Simon: Maybe the tree is a bit to lit but it feels quite balanced out. I like the painterly feeling it has and the color palette is nice.
@ Raytoh: Nice lightning and detail in the background. Although it feels like the old man is holding a scifi-mini-cellphone. What is he holding?
@ ZUPZUP: Great trees! It's quite chaotic but that do strengthens the image. Great colors as well!
@ Ccrutch: Welcome! You should watch out with using brushes for both textures and tree's. The tree's are a bit to repetitive and you loose the sense of depth in the foreground. The ground of the front tree-line feels equally far as the hill the soldier stands upon. The lightning of the background and contrast in the piece is good I think.
@_HPO: Are there any theme-driven topics? Maybe I should browse the forum instead of going directly into this thread hehe. Your piece is great, awesome palette and great painterly brushes. Although it maybe lacks a bit of clarity when it comes to depth. We're looking from a dark foreground unto water and some trees on top but what's behind it? only sky?
@ Crazybrush: Great clair obscure! Maybe the feathers are a bit to sketchy but it does lead my eyes directly to the portrait.
@ Hideyoshi: Great landscape! I'm used to see cityscapes of you but this one is great. Nice warm colors in this cold scene. Your second piece is great as well. I has a great clarity and enough detail to keep me looking. But I do need to know if that is a Buddhist-monk out there
@ Lemur: Great pieces. I like the right side of your first piece. I think the details combined with the weird fog is a good combo. How do you get this painterly feel, CS5-brushes or Painter? It do feels that way, which is good I think. Your second piece is traditional right? It feels great. Neat reflection and awesome sky. But I do think that white spot in the sky is a bit misplaced hehe.
@ Bierberg: Nice one! I like the sharpness of the floor, really feels clean and smooth. The lightning and the atmospheric perspective is done great. Nice lines used!
@ Alyssa: Wow! Very clean and greatly done. You have a lot of patience I guess? The lightning feels good and the use of sharp and blurred edges works great. Maybe the edges of the ceiling are a bit to blurred but when it comes to our field of sight it does work that way.
@ Nide: good light and color study. Keep em going!
@ Lakka: Cool. Looks really traditional and the blurred foreground gives the piece the energy it needs.
@ Bierberg (again): I can definitely see you were drunk! No kidding, it's great. I like the fog and the exposure the light areas have. Cool one!
@ Tomasis: Thanks! Your car is nice as well, although the contrast between the white and dark background feels a bit to hard. I guess the car is standing in a open garage? Then I think there should be more light falling in on the dark wall.
My piece; done for a speedy-du-jour at DA. Planned to start off more loose and painterly but couldn't help it to get this as a result. Done in 60 minutes while watching the last episode of StarWars (again). I'm planning to finish it with a more expressive and still detailed touch. All critiques are welcome! My own crit's so far: It feels a bit to flat. There could be more sun going through the trees. And the anatomy of the dude is off.

bierber, beautiful brushes (and faces).. did you made them yourself? I want them haha even i know it is easy made them ahh ))
hiermann, nice saw them in grafiskt . crazy portfolio you have!
absorber, thanks for comment. I like it as it is. closed garage I always find excuses for that hehe the maximum contrast is to create drama for viewver, dark wall helps darker part of car to read better. If you make wall lighter, then car is too dark. For your pic it doesnt hurt fiddle with curve, contrast (photoshop adjustments :p) .
