FAST FIVE! O YEAH! Cars, bootys, sweat and oil. rocking bootys!
Good stuff. Adrenalin pumping when I got out of the cinema. Seen many movies this year. First one to do that. Not just talking about action scenes. The pace was good. Everything worked. A new classic.
Watcha guys think? Yes YOU reading this...uncle sam wants to know.

The union has called for a post strike, no posts between now and for the next couple of days.
Yea it looked like action packed the fast and furious sequel in the trailer that I saw. Cool I might see it on cinema, on the other hand I have been waiting for the next Transformers, wanna see that one in 3d. Looking at that first trailer it looks like the first half of it will be good.
Have you seen "The Rise" with Anthony hopkins? I really liked that one, oh boy Anthony is a real good actor; real good.
Edit, grrr I mean "The Rite"? |

Yeah the first half will be good
Was a bit hungover when I saw the Rite so I guess it's unfair to judge it.
Read a review of fast five (in DN) where it said: (sorry swedish)
"Action och repliker frlorar oundvikligen sin snrt nr de ska kmpa sig upp genom brst- och halsmuskulaturer som Dwayne Johnsons eller Diesels. Det fr man leva med, fr om musklerna vore mindre skulle genren d. P s stt r genren sjlvreglerande och kan aldrig bli fr fin fr sin viktigaste publik."
Cool observation I thought. hehe
But Hopkins is always good. If you want Hopkins I recommend the movie "the bounty" from 1984 with mel gibson, daniel day lewis, Liam Neeson etc.
A bit slow paced but gorgeous cinematogrophy and moody music by Vangelis. |

The hungover 2. Nice and decent movie. If you haven't seen the first skip that one and see this instead. The where a bit to similar. Why change a winning concept? The humour bits worked fine but the drama felt a bit contrived for me.
Watch "fast five" If youre gonna see a movie right now. No contest. |

You can put that remark where the sun dont shine Quintus.
This Thread is dead right now but I'm hoping it will be full of live one day and until then it will serve as my personal movieblogg, obvously. |

What the hell? You flame waring in here without me?
Naughty...
Well you get the joke, right?
X-Men, the new one, saw it yesterday.
I think they are out of ideas and chronologically it just felt wrong because of Magneto and Xavier alien 8'eighted eachother to soon somehow. That doesn't fit with the first movie in the series, they are mixing everything up.
Naah no more X-Men for me.

Yes I agree would have been better if just a "seed" had been planted and Magneto switching side had been portrayed better maybe in the next movie. But remember Quintus they never alienated eachother. Magneto just decided to switch side it was never anything personal against Savier.
I have hopes for the next movie. Good acting in this one. And a new time period to play with. Hope Singer will come back. Still get goosebumps when I recall the teleporter action scene in the white house in X2.
I'll stick my neck out and say X2 is the best sequel I've ever seen better than Aliens and T2. I liked X men first class but it didn't capture the magic and excitement like a truly great superhero movie can do.
What made x men and X2 great wasn't the material it was Singer. Same stupid hype with the new terminator serie. Without Cameron you can say hasta la vista to terminator movies. And he's said in interviews that he felt "that story was told with the first two movies".
I was a bit dissapointed with Avatar though it doesn't hold up for a second viewing in 2d on the tellie. All that new age crap and the whole planet rising up when disturbed. They should have put those blue aliens in the same kind of machine the hero was in and give them constant orgasms and projecting a heavenly experience until they figured out a "nice" and humane way of dealing with them. The whole movie lacked layers almost like a children movie.
But of course the action and CGI makes it a classic anyway. A flawed one. |

Pirates of caribean walked out. First movie in a long time to piss me off.
Why walk to see a movie which got only bad reviews? Well the neanderthal gene in me must be responsible.
Same gene makes me pass on certain girls because of some anoying little detail. But more sea in the fish in everything except baloon fish.
Anybody got juicy stories? Let's kickstart this effin thread. |

Transformers. Good action. And this time the plot was understandable.
But I can't help but feel sad when I imagine all that fx used in better movies. Feels like Michael bay should never have gotten over the rank of cinematography. A rank he would be world leading at imho. |

the peter principle worked on Michael Bay haha.
Saw pirates of the carribean, i think a big thing about it is after the trilogy this movie was so low key, like it could've been an episode of a tv series. It was funny how when the inquisition got there they just tore the fountain of youth down for being pagan blasphemy...think they should've done a better job with blackbeard, i love that actor but he was like a balloon that got the air let out.
Speaking of made for TV I watched the two movies based on Terry Pratchett books (Hogfather,Color of Magic) the other weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Looking at the covers I thought they were going to be low budget sufferers (and you know how that is with fantasy flicks), but it was top notch! |

Saw the international with clive owen and Naomi Watts. Highly recommend it.
It felt realistic and interesting and exciting. No bs sentamentality or useless sidetracks. Extremely solid through and through.
In my mind more interesting than "heat" for example.
Like a tense 70's political thriller
Lemur Pirates was almost like a well made B-movie. No momentum or thinking of the big picture. The classic greek narrative with start middle end etc.
More like the themepark ride it was based on. With things just happening. |

Watched "Source code" . a bit unusual movie but loved it to the end. Some scifi with some poetry (never thought Im gonna say that). it is cool movie however. The head character is good actor as always. _________________ out |

All that shit on tv all day and night.
Then came Game of thrones!!!
Gotta love that dwarf. The best character/actor.
It's sopranos in a fantasy medieval world. Full of intriguies and blood. It is delicious!
I'll check those one out Tomasis. I've slowly discovered that there is books and movies that are MAGICAL. Hemingway, fitzgerald, Bergman etc.
And then there is Michael Bay . |

Source code was quite good. Didn't quite understand the end though.
As Tomasis said Gyllenhaal is a good actor. |

my 2 cents about two superhero movies.
Green lantern had good atmosphere and the guy playing the evil guy with a giant head was great. That director usually does good movies(zorro, Goldeneye.)
Captain America was not so good. no cool factor. the 3d was useless.
Only cool thing for me was that a big muscular guy was shrunken by fx ala b
enjamin button.
What I'm hoping for now is the new Conan movie.
Conan might seem like the most brainless idea of a movie for the uninitiated but it's hard to capture the sensibility of thoose books. |

Yeah game of thrones is lavish but the focus is on the characters and not on the fantasy stuff. The Spartacus tv serie is more of a visual smorgosboard I suppose.
Yes Arnold will play Conan. This time he got alzaimer and a stick.
Love the opening monologue in Conan. "neither best nor woman you can trust. This (holds up his sword to young conan) you can trust.
That soundtrack with a mighty orchestra and testosterone filled heroes with big swords is awesome.
What movies with bergman, fellini and that kind of quality directors do you recommend Tomasis? |

Watched Conan in the cinema.
Decent movie. Good action scenes. The end wasn't as good as the rest.
You were never bored. It was steadily good, not uneven I thought.
Conan didn't say much. And that actor lacked Arnolds precence. But he was adequate. |

Have you guys seen this one?
Valhalla rising 2009
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0862467/
Must be the most strange movie I have seen in a while. Real brutal and dark viking era, has this apocalyptic feeling over it which I do like but if you get to see it you will now what I mean about the strange in the movie.
I actually liked Captain America, too much propaganda in the movie though if you ask me.
Join Uncle Sam.
The only Conan for me is Schwarzenegger, haha got love that scene in "Red Sonja" where he fights that water monster and haha 20 minutes into the scene he screams that it is a machine, lmao wonderful.

saw Conan, I like this Conan better than Arnold (god bless his soul)-saw an interview with this guy where he said he was a Frazetta fan and was doing everything to get that look, so gotta give him props. The thing about it though is that the story wasn't strong enough for the Conan, they should've just gone by one of the stories directly and it would've been classic.
Did anybody here read the Cary Nord drawn darkhorse conan comics? They were so awesome and I think this guy was good at capturing that, though they really should've given him the bangs/mullet hairstyle |

I think Conan could be a good big budget tv serie. Use Howards best stuff and visual inspiration from the comics. Robert Jordan has also written some good Conan Books.
Apparently there was a short lived (2 seasons) low budget Conan series in 97/98. |

returner, I'd watch them all. it is worth if you're interested of film history. I wasnt disappointed myself, it depends on what kind of movies you want to watch. Such quality of directors is very rare nowadays, i mean every movie they do are at least good.
There are many movies outside in the world that are good but there are millions directors as well So it is hit and miss for every of them.
If you still want to limit the amount of movies, it is good idea use Google and find the most popular titles in any random article I guess also what is available on DVD are good stuffs anyway.
A short story with Terence Stamp (and director Fellini) "Spirits of the Dead" is cool. It is not well known, but I enjoyed of this short movie. I think that almost every director use Shakespeare as inspiration theater, u know.
Ok, I must dig up this and watch again, I dont get never tired of this
