A technology/design theme this month:
TACHIKOMA
Inspiration image from Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex, design by Masamune Shiro
Wikipedia describes a Tachikoma as a "spider type multi leg combat vehicle equipped with artificial intelligence", and that sounds about right. Created by Masamune Shirow for his Manga Ghost in the Shell, and they have also appeared in the GitS anime series. Highly maneuverable, lots of firepower, and a child-like intelligence.
The task; if you were asked to redesign it for a big-budget, live-action Hollywood remake, what would it look like? *
2D and 3D accepted, digital and not, finished or sketched. Feel free to cross-post images into other relevant threads, and to post older images that might fit the theme.
* Yes, this is a sacrilegious task. Just pretend that you're being paid too much money to object.

My version.
Think it's going to be bigger, at least for two persons maybe-

In case anyone's having the same issue as me (maybe not), think I should mention that I can't see the image in the first post |
Thanks, I fixed it.

huhm nice idea.. except for the 'imagine u're asked to redesign and be payed'
hehe
Why are your Tachikomas gettin bigger and bigger, don't they loose their purpose?
I kinda like the original design of those fuchikoma in the manga. _________________ .. err but maybe its the other way around ..or maybe I lost it .. back then |

My unsentimental (i think) attempt. looks a lot like someone tested filters in photoshop with no real idea or direction, which is sort of what happened.
Sup_Ben, nice, its got a lot of character! _________________ www.mattiassnygg.com

Really nice tachikoma renderings. I like the concept of such characters, they're really futuristic. Hope to see this thread progress. Thanks for sharing ya'll. _________________ John Briner Art |
