Been coming down a lot of snow these latest 24 hours and it is still snowing.
Had to take the opportunity to add some new headers for my site.
Funny thing though is that I got lost in the woods while taking a lot of photos, luckily I was able to find my way back. lol
What interests me when it is snowing is the atmospheric perspective, don't have the best camera but it worked for my "header" format, perhaps better than these but I thought I could show you guys some snow.
Is it snowing where you guys are?

It's been just cold and dry here. Everything's frigid and dead. No birds, no crickets, no leaves, no grass, no snow. Cold and grey. Really cloudy at night, too. The buildings left unlit become obsidian monoliths. Any lights left on appear to be reluctantly and impotently postponing the inevitable conquest of the night.
It all comes together to present a wonderful atmosphere of apocalyptic despair.
I love Canada. |

Disst, Wait, was that irony? quite poetic there.
Tomasis, lol naah I live in an apartment complex, in stergtland. Very close to the woods though.
Still snowing like crazy and around -5 celsius, closer to 30 cm snow now I believe. Wasn't this much snow in Norway when I lived there last winter.
Durgldeep, thank you.
What? I thought Canada always had snow during the winter? You know Sweden have had un-even winters the last 20 years, hasn't been that much snow if you look back the last 10 years, however this changed last year. They had so much snow in these parts that the snow had to be stored on a big football field and it took to June to melt it. Pretty cool that, my parents told me cause I have lived in Norway that last 3 years so I guess I am not up to date on things, ah well.
Post some pictures guys if you got them, I can change the title to winter photos or something.
ok back to freezing my ass off. |

Here's some more from the same batch earlier today, all added in another format to my header section.
Past this house on the right there's tracks for the train and then there's a real deep forest. So deep that I got lost, had to turn back after 40 minutes.

Depends on what part of Canada, QD. Like Sweden, some places have got less in recent years - I'm hoping we'll rebound too! I don't like half-ass winters - if it's gong to snow I want it to *snow*.
These are from the last time I saw 'real snow' [sigh] - your pictures make me homesick, QD, lol. The first four (taken at different times) pan from south to north (across the back yard); the fourth shows the hilltop where the second set was taken (middle left)...

Starting from the top of the hill, back the way we came: down a snowmobile trail to the bridge/creek...

Durgldeep, wow those are awesome, I really like the black and white aswell. Hmm I should have thought of that for my header section.
Aha yea with less snow in the winters, I wonder if the globe is correcting itself again? at least in these parts, europe....
I have read about small iceages during the 17th century in Europe, not much talk about the North pole these days either...
ok I am changing the thread title to winter photos or something. Thanks again for posting durgldeep.
btw I agree about winters with more snow, much better than the rainy winters. Makes things more bright aswell. |

Not a lot of snow here last winter (max was 30 cm?) - though depends who you ask (in some places an inch causes panic, in others a foot isn't much). The most memorable thing (to me) was the UK covered in snow (can't find the high res version...). Looks like it's set to happen again (re your link)...
Agreed snow makes the landscape brighter (compensates for increased darkness?). I remember walking a favourite trail through an abandoned stone quarry. Someone had cut a basement (for a house) out of the rock. This was near midnight, blizzard-like conditions, no flashlight - and I stopped on the edge of the basement (could see the contrast in the snow, barely).
Love that kind of wild, hostile environment (blizzards, etc.). But that's what I grew up in.
So "Winter Photos" now. Awesome. Snow forecast today, but +5 (it won't last)... [sigh] |

Shot these just now while standing on the front steps of where I live.
No snow yet. In the Boston area we sometimes don't get any real serious snow til January. Maybe this should go into the Work In Progress forum

Tzan, lmao@ "Work In Progress".
Almost took a shot of the few flakes that fell this morning (this is pathetic, right?), lol.
Maybe Sweden is willing to export... |

Nide - mountains? That's cheating!
Found a horrible shot of the front yard, from last year (camera test; through the screen, yep); snow = ~30 cm, 12":
Edit: nice midtones in everyone else's shots...

You know guys I would be willing to export snow to you, lol.
Thanks for sharing your photos btw, awesome.
Was a sunny day today so I went for a photo shoot again, though I prefer when it is snowing when shooting photos, makes it more dramatic I guess....hmm...
We have 30 centimeters now I believe.

QD, it starts and 'stops' (melts) [sigh].
You've got lots to export? Yay!
A (blurry) parting shot from this morning (from the back door):
I thought shooting the melting snow was a bad idea, until I saw Nide's (awesome) pics - awesome, Nide.
Tried to find something interesting in the yard (rolled around in the flower bed; squirrels yelling at me...)
but no go...

This knocked out the power for 3.5 hours.
The cable TV is still out My cable modem still works!
We got 4 inches of snow then it rained a bit, making it very heavy on the trees. Then we got another few inches of snow. Doesnt look like much because it got packed down by the rain.
The pine tree keeps dropping a branch or two every other year.
