nice work xhui!
This one is a quick sketch of a man with his two dogs. I played around with min's brushes which was very fun! The scene is inspired from the place I currently live in Switzerland.
Hope you like it!

i miss a couple days and look what happens!

xhui9- thats great, i really get the feel that that thing is gigantic and is very threatening to the soul of anyone who stares too long Shocked

Mateja- those black and whites are wonderful-something subtle about them that really goes beyond words.

drew this in acrylic and wasted alot of time fixing it in PS! it was fun though it would best be put in the garbage-its the definition of "too much light"

matthew- I'd like to hear some of your thoughts on balance. I've heard you talking about this and was wondering if it was about balancing the strengths of the image, the elements or what? that totem is a really interesting painting.

a laptop study of a vacuum, I really like to sketch from life but exaggerate it or change it up somehow while using that observed information. Haven't really done it painting wise yet (always line and mass), but I think this is going to be a great warmup/study aid

snootchy, love your experiments with brushes. images turn out be really nice Smile Man, you're on fire!.. No i dont have a sb on Ca.org. I hope my blog is enough though im not famous Wink I check "finished art" in CA section sometimes. Crazy stuffs there. Vyle me? hehe.. Me more like Feerik wannabe.. amazing that all artists in steambot are so different but complement each other very well. I want them all in my brain.

mateja, fk awesome bw pieces..

hpo_, zupzup brushes available?

lemur, nice Smile I think i must paint armor. your fault!

you all guys rock

Seems that Artrage is fun..that changed my thinking for a while..it is like digital traditional painting . at more simple way. Good break from 100 tricks in PS.

Playing around with the blender a bit on this one. Experimenting on softening and blending some of my edges.

snootchy - neat....glad you find some of my work inspiring. Like that tree a lot.

photeck - very cool. love the latest post.

xhui9 - Nice! Great color scheme going on there.

zupzup thanks, yea your blue night urban alleyway sketch was my desktop background last month, really dug the mood set in that sketch, the blender with the hard edges is looking like a better balance of hard and lost (soft) edges!

Holland (aka Photek) you have so many damn handles i can't keep up haha, but really dig the last enviro!

Tomasis thanks dood, can u post a link to ur blog interested in following ur progress, haha yea me too i'm more like a wannabe artist currently work in medicine. agree all of steambot is crazy guhood! luv that heavy thick paint look in artrage!

shoulda went to sleep hour ago after crazy long day but couldn't resist quick cheese char sketch...

Tomasis, love that one, wow. Sweet color choice for sure. Very Happy

Lemur, hmm, I think it would be too long to expand on the subject here in the speedy, it has to do with counteractacting things. This is taught in decorative painting and it's hard to explain and everything with painting is very wide aswell so it might narrow down to taste.
It depends on your subject too.
Maybe paint something and I could try to give some tips if you want? that way I could show more how I would have treated the painting, I think I matthew-fy things too much though lol.

Haha damn I suck! Shocked

This is what I saw in my totem above, would need a lot more time to make it more attractive though.

Matthew- understand what you mean, as far as counteracting or contrasting makes a bit of sense (until it gets too subjective, then its confusing!).

Alot of times these concepts are pretty hard to put into words, sometimes I take time to try to think without words and paint in my head, but it gets hard because you can go wild just thinking about something else-really demonstrates how important it is to think and observe when painting. I notice I can think and visualize better when i'm pacing, but then my cat starts running up and down the hall and it distracts me lol

Did a couple more life studies this morning (messed with of course Smile), I think knowing the form, material, and light are the most important things to approach with-cause all the shapes are really determined by that-then the shapes can be designed to fit the whim of the painter.

started as a lamp head

haha, thanks for the Cool comment matthew, complete with Cool painting of course Smile

played around, started by arranging abstractly, but did it with flat shapes-alot of times trying to resolve out of a textured mess is waaaay above my head.
