Hey - it's been ... centuries?

Here's a quick something I threw together over the last few days.
Started in ZBrush, modeled the terrain - then transferred into Vue where it was rendered. Final cleanup and finessing in Photoshop. Give it a click for a bigger version.

Enjoy! Very Happy

PS: Hey - it's my 10th anniversary on the Sijun Forum!!! Any of the oldtimers still around??

Looks great.

We haven't seen much from you I think since you went to New Zealand to work on Lord of the Rings or maybe King Kong? How was that experience?

Awesome. Very Happy

Thanks for the heads up, Suma -
the blog says The Lovely Bones -
and a non-specific mention of 2002.
Understatement is a wonderful thing(?) [grin]

Ha, Sumaleth! I knew you've still be around. I went to New Zealand twice - once in 2002 for six months and then I went in the end of 2004 to work on Kong. And I still am in New Zealand. So the experience is still going on! Wink

Yes, I dropped off the face of the earth for a long time and I don't expect this to be a permanent return either. But it's always nice to say hi!

Nice to see you around Smile

Very interesting and educational workflow, thanks a lot for sharing!

I didn't know Vue could be so useful, actually I didn't know much about Vue at all. In the last few years I've mostly been doing realtime 3d graphics for mobile devices so I've dropped off the loop on latest advancements in 3d Embarassed

Ah, you worked on MiniGore. It looks great. How many copies have you sold, if it's something you can share?

I'm working on an iPhone puzzle game. Trying to get it finished before xmas.

Sumaleth: Thanks, I co-designed Minigore with my programmer brother. It's still quite simple game but we now have a bigger team working on the content & updates. I know the multiplayer update will be big, it's just very hard to nail those final performance optimizations. Last time I checked the overall sales it was close to half a million copies.

Btw. What kind of puzzle game are you working on? (if it's a super long answer you can send me PM so we don't hijack Loki's thread Wink )

Hey Loki! Sweet crater there. Seems your presence lured out the other oldtimers too, this thread is BURSTING!

Good to see you're still alive. Although I've not been around art-forums and similar stuff on the next for a long while, so I wouldn't really know who is still active outside of my rare visits to sijun.

Holy fuck! All my veteran favourites are crawling out of their holes! Good to see you guys! And thanks for the kudos.
I'm using a lot more 3D these days I guess - basically using anything that helps me getting a decent result.

Vue is a pretty good tool and yields fantastic results once one learns how to cope with the clunky user interface, the frequent crashes and the loooooooooooong render times.

I'm working on a new image right now - really unspectacular but I'll post it here once it's done Smile

glitterbug - omg - the legendary green monkey thread! I still have a few I collected somewhere. Makes me all sentimental!
