painting of a friend, I got a serious question, which of these 3 works best for you? I mean, doesnt-work the less.

a not so soft version

Btw Lemur, once again I like it, I find it much more rewarding to read an image, instead of getting a fully rendered one smacked in my face. Really I mean it, that image hits the spot for me. Silhouettes and all that, yes, much love... Smile

Yo Lakka, the first one (the one you posted) looks fantastic to me. The others... I could believe that someone used a cloner tool in Painter X and ran them through a bad filter. I would definitely definitely go with the one you posted. If push comes to shove though you can always ask her.

Thanks, yes I've been wondering if the watercolor thing just makes them look like photos with bad editing, I guess that's the case, thanks alot for the comment! Guess I'll drop playing with it.. Surprised

*Rinthe thanks for your comment too. I've been unsure about this but this helped me alot.

gousman, that's very "on the move"

selfportrait, I swear, my eyebrow crosses the bridge of my nose and floats in the air, just like this....

*put some airbrush on the eyebrow, started to bug me...

and 5 minutes with a mouse

i really like your portraits lakka- i was thinking that filters dont work well but why? i think its cause a filter takes the variety out of an image.

jama-those are so awesome, so simple in their grand readability.

wasker-so you are a mutant too? haha that is awesome beyond words.

was at the docks today observing the boats, kinda feel dumb i didnt bring my sketchbook.

wow nice stuff guys

samsonreaper: Do you find it hard to paint a subject matter that has a certain look or expectations? For example, if you had to paint a hospital room there needs to be certain objects and colors in the picture so it reads as a hospital room.

If you think about specific attributes about a certain subject, as your hospital room you can paint in a experimental way as long as you focus in on some of those attributes. So think about what a hospital room looks like, the lighting, the objects in it. And so forth. Then apply that to your experimental painting. If your room has cold bluish light , paint with that. If your room has lots of sharp solid shapes(surgery lamp, bed,etc etc) paint more straight lines and hardedged shapes. Not necessary painting the object itself but just painting more random hardedged straight lines.

I use this method for all my sketching weather it's for production or freetime. So its definitely usable and not just something you can only do for fun.

Samsonreaper, JOuey... awesome!

Godzilla: Cheers. I'm really enjoying your work. Why did you remove all your paints from your blog?

SamsonReaper, Damn that's awesome. Shocked

Munin, it has to do with a shift of focus, believe I enjoy more to give my paintings more time. Had to do a makeover with the blog.
Will post some finished in a couple of weeks, hopefully one of them will be finished. Smile

Thanks guys. Smile

wow howie, the contrast between sharp/soft is just great there

Oh, and Lemur, yeah I guess you're right on that, but I'm sure there has to be a way to get them add variety also. by adding is to certain parts or materials, and not be as blantant with them as I am Laughing The thing I kind of miss with the tablet is the random texture you could get from lets say, scrubbing with a palette knife. Btw, nice looking ship!

Jouey - really loving that landscape.

This one's part-fan art, part-shameless plug. This is favorite guy from Nanovor, the game we're working on at Smith & Tinker (check it out here: http://www.nanovor.com).

Nice Job Mattyuk! Definitely rounds up your portfolio.
Lakka, I like painting over a filter to make it less obvious, only grain I cannot keep my fingers from Sad
