I have decided to shift focus (more info in the blog) so I bet my posting will be more sparse than previous.
Will not probably be that much of a loss anyway lol.

Mattyuk, fine ones

Emil, captain obvius and the rest, killer stuff

That's an initial step on a more detailed illustration

maybe a bit too subtle with values, perhaps need a little bit more separation. I think values really set the mood even before color, need to think about this some more!

matthew: thanks! yes that is how i paint all my motives/subjects. All are born out of randomness of shapes. I notice you usually stay in similar palettes, how come?

jr, I like that, very pleasant rendering.

Munin, That's damn impressive, wish I could paint more like that. Very Happy

SamsonReaper, I believe it is because of the easy way to get warm and cold and I like orange and blue together. If you meant the low key it is because I mostly start greyscale, neither do I like too much vibrant color aswell....
Thanks, Keep up. Smile

3rd hour. Interesting trip this.

SANSAN; that emu is made of gold! Smile

selfstudy

and revisited this

I think I'm a bit hooked on that filter. OK, no more of it, or, less, atleast!!! Embarassed Laughing The good thing about painter was, that every filter seemed very much unusable, whereas photoshop has this thing.

Btw Lemur, I actually really like that, I think you did really good at setting a mood for the image

wow nice stuff guys

samsonreaper: Do you find it hard to paint a subject matter that has a certain look or expectations? For example, if you had to paint a hospital room there needs to be certain objects and colors in the picture so it reads as a hospital room. I'm more comfortable with the building off of random shapes method but its really hard for me to break out of rocky organic landscapes, anytime I need to paint something more man made especially interiors I struggle.

thankyou very much lakka, this means alot as lately i've been focusing on the mood or feeling more than anything else. Used to try to paint 'something', now im trying to paint a painting that communicates a desired feeling, and using those somethings as the tools to do that-figure i've been thinking backwards for a long time and this makes much more sense.

Looking at the pictures from all the artists I like, the thing i notice most is that the most treasured thing I get from viewing a painting is a wonderful feeling, and with the best artists everything goes towards heightening that desired feeling somehow. So now I'm thinking less of an object painted 'realistic' or right in detail (somewhat important, but must be secondary to the overall narrative) and more about just what i would like to feel when i view and paint it, letting that find the solutions. Looks like most of the mood lie in the big shapes too, so getting what you want out of them and then moving down and refining to a recognizable subject based on our knowledge of light and form seems a good start as any- so its like you have these two contrasting things going on, something so moody and artsy, then something intellectually learned as the backup guy making sense out of it (but always must be the backup guy).

Howie-I know your question is to sampsonsreaper, but i figure when it comes to a hospital room you square dance instead of tango lol. You can still drop perspective lines and keep things in an exact structure while flowing your mind and being free artistically, I guess its mostly about not letting that contrast of thought mindfuck you...this is of course alot easier if you study hospital rooms alot, as the more you understand about the subject the better.

ok, now time to blow it and prove how little i know-
