Is it possible to set up some kind of blog on a webpage? Or maybe some opened kind of forum with one thread kind of thing?
I have messed around with phpbb on my website previously but what I am thinking is one opened section in the index, that possible?
At the moment I am using zenphoto for my webpage...

Set up a blogspot! blogspot.com its very easy to set up is google based and hosts your images. Quite a lot of people have them and so leave comments, its nice being able to comment on a specific image as well. _________________ www.tenglandsketchbook.blogspot.com

Yea I want it on my url because I started to think about making some kind of sketchbook on my site instead of flooding forums with my crappy pics lol.
Wordpress, will look it up.
Someone good with php in here? I think it would be neato to have an open thread kind of activity on the index, damn I
guess I have to get my hands dirty and do some php hacking.
ok thanks guys. |

Hmm, not sure if Wordpress is configurable for this... as I have never used it myself, but it is worth a look for sure. What you want is basically a blog allowing the public to post articles / their own artwork? or just comments? Sorry I should have been more specific before.
Other than that, if you do decide to develop for yourself make life easier and use a php framework like www.codeigniter.com or ruby on rails (host dependent) |

You can configure Wordpress to have multiple memberships with different levels of access. Though I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for.
If you do decide to go with it, check out this link: http://www.wpdesigner.com/category/tutorials/
Has come in handy for me in the past. _________________ www.jasonink.net/journal |

yea I looked at wordpress, they didn't have that many pages in showcase that showed what I am looking for.
Come to think about it the optimal solution would be an opened thread on my page, can you do that with phpbb?
That way the site would be just a like a sketchbook like the one I used to have in cgtalk. I have been messing around with php templates for my site previously and that worked very good.
Not necessary to have others to be able to post though, more of a documentation thing.
appreciate the help |

U know I might keep fool around with zenphoto after all, maybe some adjustments and I will get there. Have to solve how to information message in the gallery instead of entering the picture.
I kind of like Zenphoto, it's just that you have to get your hands dirty with it because some commands has to be called, snif.
go look at the gallery if you have time, Something like this that I was looking for....
Might see what can be fixed with information messages in the gallery section.
thx again though |

lol I contacted my webprovider via support message..hope to hear from them, tried out their blog software that comes with the domain. Things were linked when I added media to the blog instead of it adding the files to my domain, can't say I like that.
And wordpress itself didn't display pictures, seems like access to me?
Hmm... |

Gotta tell you guys I tried Drupal too but that and Wordpress really has bugs all around. why the hell do you have a htaccess file that causes more problem than it solves?
Weird...
Google doesn't find shit, have you guys also noticed that search functions in google have been getting worse? |

Wordpress really is awesome, once you start to fumble around with the settings you notice how powerful it really is. Especially with the plugins.
The simplephpblog was just to simple, I noticed it when I wanted to enhance the theme and features, just wasn't possible....
In wordpress it comes just with some clicks.
Anyone of you that are good with gallery settings on a page in wordpress?
I am currently trying to add a gallery to a page, got that kpicasa plugin. Guess the right command is needed. ...Just thinking if it really needs to be added to the page link, or where?
Damn tricky stuff when you only got basic php skills, snif. |

i would also vote for wordpress, just finished my own website: www.audiovisual.at
and i could implement all kind of things i needed rather easily.
As for the gallery, NextGEN Gallery gives you a solid start and theres tons of plugins to extend it.
In general if you have a slight knowledge of how to work with php/mysql + some knowledge of html and css then there nothing better than setting up your own blog, it gives you so much more possibilities.
If you dont wanna mess around, just get a blog like blogger.com or xxx.blogspot.com set a nice template and there you go... |
