Hey

The contest is on. There are some ways this could go down I believe.

*First of all report or notify yourself in here if you wanna be in the contest, yes will do.

*Second we have to come up with some ideas what kind of contest we should have.

Should it be topic related or focused on a genre? such as realism?

Some ideas I have been thinking about last week was a couple of different topics that could work:
/////////////

*New World Order - something like predict what a new world would look like, war? or peaceful?

*Realism - this topic says much about what it should be like. Could be executed in some different ways, first could be that we all work from 3 pictures and make something new out of it. Seeking Realism.
Secondly in the Realism genre, could be just seeking realism with one of your sketches, all provide with a sketch and then you try to make it realistic.

*Matte - This could be fun as contest, Matte construction with one of your own ideas, prefereably sketches would be added first and then work from that. Much funnier for all involved.

//////

ok some ideas, let me know what you think.
And please scribble down your own ideas in here.

Insane Lemur, thanks, good to see you on board.

I was thinking about a poll to vote for the winner. This way it could be up for a limited time and the one with most votes wins.
About the contest, I am thinking we could give it some time.
Perhaps 2-3 months. What do you guys think?

Also there were some great ideas in the activity poll thread.
Perhaps we could make the contest about learning?
Would be cool if the winner could get us some pointers about how he works and maybe give us a short tutorial thread, tips and such.
Hmm? Not sure what u guys think?

This thread will be up two weeks too as the other thread.
Depending on that we hopefully have come to a decision by then. Smile

I'm in!
I suggest having broad themes that are open to different kinds of interpretation, like last time. It's not very original, but for good reasons.

I noticed there were a set of rounds last time, would that be prefered this time too?

What I was thinking otherwise was to have polls, ruling out below the top 10 and then maybe a final with the last standing top 3?

Keep it short and tight. The last one was too drawn out, and the longer it went on the fewer people participated. Best to go for a single thing with a reasonably short time frame if you want maximum involvement.

I Agree with Sumaleth.
I am voting for a one round thing, make a poll of names with all involved in the contest and then the member with the most votes wins.
Ok to get things started I am gonna set a date when the contest starts.

10th of August Monday is the official date when the contest starts.

til then we really need to get down with the theme.
Suggesting some more beneath:

*Magician
*Elements
*Technical vs Nature
*Ten Commandments

Just a few, can we agree on something?
or add more theme suggestions people. Very Happy

Matthew was Godzilla -

Count me in!

I agree with Sumaleth about the lengthiness of last years contest.
Med was a complete noob when it came to organization and leadership.

If it is drawn out with plenty of rounds, people aren't able to find time to participate in each round. Setting up the winning brackets for so many people became tough. So a much more simplified competition sounds like a great idea, that way people are only committing to one assignment rather than five or six over the span of a few months.

It seemed as though everyone enjoyed doing themes that gave the opportunity for open interpretation, such as Big vs Small. Although I do like your suggestion of New World Order, that could be really interesting. I think anything will be fun, and thanks for promoting this contest :]

med, appreciate the feedback.

Guys, unless you give me feedback I will just choose one theme myself and then start it on the 10th of august.
To me a theme suggesting scale is interesting, me myself like perspective, especially forced.
"Colossus" could be interesting. I think.

Right now it is leaning to a one round thing, poll voting.
No final. Perhaps more fair to all involved.

let me know people.

Sumaleth - Is there a limit to poll topics? is it possible to add let's say 10-20 different topics in the poll? In this case all the members joining the contest.

alyssa, appreciate it. Will wait for now for more people to join.
I think it will be one of the mentioned ones as you said, New World Order or Colossus.

join the contest people. Very Happy

I added a poll for the theme, only two to choose between. I think that will do, especially after feedback from med and alyssa.
Thanks again guys. Very Happy
The one theme with most votes will be the contest theme.

I voted Colossus. I think I would like New World Order just as much but I am gonna leave it up to you members now with a vote.
Hope to see many of you in the contest on the 10th of august.

Another idea is to start a sketch thread devoted
to the contest, in there you could get critique on how to make your piece
perfect. That would add to the learning process.
That would be optional btw.

the contest will last for 2 months. I think any shorter would be boring, also personally I need some time myself if I am gonna do something decent lol.

However within this time frame of 2 months you can post your work whenever you want. The deadline however cannot be passed.

:Just add a statement with your piece what you tried to achieve and what it represents.
Also, in the statement add that you are finished with the piece.

Hope I am not rambling too much here.

ok I browsed the Calendar. Seems fair to me this.

Timeframe Contest
10th of August - 19th of October

This gives everyone time, also if anyone think it is too much time they can post their finished piece whenever they want in the thread that will be created as I said above.
Give feedback to this aswell cause I don't wanna dictate things, this contest will be for all of us. Smile

Colossus?

New World Order?

The countdown has begun people, one more week to put your votes in. Very Happy
I suggest you start looking up on some inspiration pictures.
Suggesting:

If "Colossus"
*Shadow Of The Colossus (the game, search google)
*Colossus (search google)

If "New World Order"
*1984 (the movie, search google)
*Terminator (the movie, search google)

Thanks for the feedback above guys, really appreciate it.
I think we all need some time, as I said before if you wanna post earlier you can.

Also the thread will be made on the 9th so that everyone in the different time zones can see the thread on the 10th of August.
So late at 9th of August will be decided upon the topic with most votes, which will be the theme for the contest. And also, name for the topic and thread.
