I'm wondering if anybody here could share some thoughts on Landscape architecture. Took a few basic courses in it last year but I'm hesitating.

What is the ratio between art and problem solving for example creating a park or green areas around houses. Do you get an edge over others if you have a good eye, will that matter? Is the intellectual concept more important nowadays than the aestethic impression the architecture gives?

Any books you can recommend to get a good introduction to Landscape architecture? And how do you make the right decission between keeping it as a hobby or working with it full time. Whether it's as good to have a job that's closer to the money but further from the arts(a lot of job require as much thinking but pays alot better than architecture does).

how does the everyday work look like. What to expect in comparising to other more mainstream jobs. Pros and cons?

I know a few professionals in that industry; they all love their work. What I've gleaned from them is that there's always going to be problem solving, and it will go hand and hand with the design aspects. You cannot design without becoming astutely knowledgeable in geography. You will be challenged with marrying what you think is a stellar design with terrain specifics and indifferences; as a result your design might not work. This is why you study and study hard.

Go for if you want, but make sure it's where you want to go. Bust a move.
