For me it would be "knowledge", without it you wouldn't be able to determine whether life has meaning or not. Procreation for the sake only is tragic, I wish more people would reflect over their lives. Maybe they do but looking at the world as it is now makes me think most don't.

Do you know that protons react to dna being present? most of what we see around us is illusion.
Do you think you would still reflect upon procreation? ;if there was no sight, no sound and no touch.

But seriously, protons, cars, picnics, universities and even sex - they're all distractions. Everything people come up with is due to BOREDOM. All the discoveries, all the refined art and perfected skills, everything that is called "civilization" is a mere entertainment. But it doesn't take us much further from our starting point, does it? It can be said that in relation to the eternal nothingness we haven't moved at all. But people always try to cling on to all the temporary transient STUFF, including their own lives.
People will die out like dinosaurs, one day the Earth itself will blow up.. Procreate is all we can do. The point of spreading ourselves may change from quantity to quality, but our ultimate goal is still going as far as possible for as long as possible. That's the point of our lives. Be it a million years ago, or a million years ahead.

There, I just solved the mental struggle of the century! Now we can go back to amusing ourselves with the transient stuff, all the while the only point of our being is...
