octavian: sorry for the late response, yeah im majoring in art studio. but this quarter i'm not taking any art studio class so i don't have much time to paint. i got into a class with thiebald in the fall quarter, very excited about that. and yes! I love davis, it's beautiful here. Fall is my favorite Smile

everyone here is kicking ass, keep it up!

RayToh, good variation, I think you know what it takes to make the motif interesting. Interesting that.

I am gonna give some tips.
For those that struggle with composition. Don't be dead set on the composition you have in front of you, make everything very simple. Then when you have a very basic structure you duplicate your layer, resize the image to perhaps more height or more width. then resize the original (duplicate layer) back to the original ratio.
Use this layer to think about the composition, move it around on your canvas. Try not to think about perspective at this stage, merely position of the blob you have in front of you.
Any questions feel free to ask away.

Another thing to think of to get depth without atmospheric or the flashy effects of color is to give variation to your brush strokes.
In decorative painting you have a rule of three different sizes of your brushes to give your piece variation.
This can be hard to understand when you look at succesful speedies but it is one of those things that can help you on the way.
A tip is to look at Raytoh's piece above.

Then of course you might wanna bend the rules to get another kind off variation, depends on what you are looking for.
Knock yourselves out. lol
