This painting was done for a tutorial for Corel Painter Magazine (Nr29). I am still struggling with character work and I don't want to give up so soon. I hope I will get there someday.

Nice. I really like the colors and technique.
If you want a crit, I'd say the hair kind of doesn't work for me and something about her stance is a bit off, but I think this is coming along nicely if you say characters aren't your strong suit.
I have a really tough time with hair, so it's hard for me to comment on how to improve it... as a suggestion, I can say that there are books by famous hair dresser companies such as "tony and guy" and "paul mitchell" that show TONS of hair styles. maybe try and get ahold of one of those. that is where I got these studies from: http://screamingzen.com/wp-content/gallery/zombies/hairstudy3.jpg etc.
anyway, good stuff man, and congrats on gettin in the magazine! i've been a big fan of your environments for a while now. |
