thanks for the crit med! The lack of contrast reflects my lack of proper understanding of the lighting- gotta have goals with these paintings, maybe look at more related reference to cultivate ideas (actually I'm really stupid to not be doing this)

I've been thinking of the idea of painting being a language. It really gives it a new purpose for me and helps to pinpoint ideas-what are we trying to say and why?

I might have a retry with this idea- would like to focus more on the aspect of his gear and the styling of his clothing- this turned more into a slop fest brush test, but I feel going after these goals of what we are trying to 'say' must lead to enjoyment if we can deal head on with our troubles, which I need alot more practice with.
