nicw work guys- my poo poo splatter for today- I'm thinking i should go wet for the beginning maybe... I have no edge control for subtle blends and soft gradients-would more water be a good solution for acrylic??? I hear alot about painting darks thinner and going in heavy on the lights, although thats just one technique.

hey lemur....the best way i've found to use acrylics so far is to work on Arches paper.
Use it like watercolour until it isnt doing what you want it to then use impasto like oils, very effective technique.

thanks for any compliments! and thanks for the advice watmough!
Rinthe- for a critique I would say you just need more learnin to do (same applies to all of us). for what you seem to be trying to do I suggest learning the figure (check out burne hogarth's books and study them till they fall apart) and learning to utilize simple value-this will call for lots of life study (carry around a sketchbook and draw alot to). Most of all though learn what you want to achieve and why, then study based on your answers there, this studying will take up your whole life...
a little acrylic slop, will post some digital soon
