This is the sketch layer that I will be using as a reference for when it comes time to paint. I am basically just posting this to portray my concept.

Any feedback will be appreciated. The anatomy is off a bit. Offer ANY ideas.

hello waynebebay i think you are trying to show a slavery scene. the sketch is very nice but i just want to give a view that if u can made the face of the monster more cruel so it looks more realistic. all the best.

I think this sketch could definitely lead to a successful piece. I would rearrange the composition a bit, maybe make it directionally dominant. What I mean is the size of the canvas seems square, I think it would be more interesting if one side is significantly longer than the other, like a "widescreen" view.

As for the painting part, I'd recommend pulling a lot of reference, paintings that have a similar look that you're looking for and try to emulate the values and colors for learning's sake.

Do you plan on making the background really simple or complicated?

I agree with med. I would rearrange the composition to be directionally dominant. Only I wouldn't put it in wide screen mode [ simply because there are 2 objects who's dominant proportion is height ] but rather enlarge it vertically. Also as far rearranging goes i have a problem with 2 characters side by side.. Maybe putting the dominant figure in front and the slave in back would add to the dramatic aspect of the scene.
Try Frazzetta for reference and fix the anatomy Smile

Wow, I got feedback! Very Happy

Listen I agree with you guys about the perspective 100% as I did start to paint it and it looks less like i had imagined it.

First off I didn't think I was going to get any feedback so like I said I started to paint it after I rearranged the sketch a bit. I updated the original sketch (which is now above) and will show you what I have painted below.

Secondly let me explain about the picture a bit so you all can understand. I started painted pictures of my buddies and the first one I did was a challenge but not challenging enough because I went off of one reference (stealing colors from the reference as well Rolling Eyes oops) so I decided to JUST take my next friends face and make something epic out of it. The slave girls are exactly slaves but I want the look like they love this man (sexually) and would do anything (sexually) to be in his presence.

Also I need some help, I am still a bit new at this digital painting biznass, how can I add height to my canvas in PS without distorting the painting I have now?

In any case here is the painting I started. (remember the new sketch is up above as well.)

<update: new abs, skin color, flame taken out, helmet touched up.>
