where you at with Death note? I am at episode 21 at first season, not as good as in the beginning however... the first ten episodes was killer.
ninja scroll series had the same problem..
Evangelion was that with mechas, right? and you could only be 15 to steer them? haven't seen in a long time, pretty good though.
Advent Children was killer, Final Fantasy. |

I'm late in season 2, but I'm only seeing one episode a week so you'll easily overtake me. No spoilers!
Death Note did seem to stall in the second half of the first season, but like season one of Dexter it's well worth waiting for the payoff. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

so I guess season finale... you were pretty much right. They tried to cram everything in this episode. Pretty funny when dexter managed to get loose and then broke George kings neck, lol I mean it really was obvious that they had to resolve everything thus it was in ultra rapid hehe.
Hmm could have sworn they were gonna let Matsis continue, think it was better that way though. Fresh start in the next season.
Can't wait...
let's continue discuss then, if you want? |

Yeah, pretty similar to the end of the previous season; all tidied up in a satisfactory manner, but it didn't really sail to the heights you wanted it to. Or that they seemed to be setting up for. Kinda felt like they made the first 11 episodes with a 20-episode season in mind, and suddenly realized they only had a single episode left to wrap it up.
It also didn't seem to end on a theme. Like the first season ended with the discovery of who he was, and putting his past behind him (physically and mentally). The the second was about his code. And the third seemed to be about the consequences of breaking the code -- killing someone who didn't meet the requirements, and sharing the code with someone else -- but it didn't seem to come to any sort of meaningful conclusion in that last episode. It was just tidied up and left at that. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

Death Note, I guess the 37 episodes was the complete series, thought it was 37 episodes in the first season but I guess it was like 20 in the first? Just finished watching.
Anyway Death Note was a good series but perhaps too many filler episodes, I really like the last two...36 37.
Will see if I can watch the first Lost episode when it's back on. |

Yeah, 37 episodes is the whole thing.
I thought it sagged a bit between around 10-20, though the payoff for that looong setup that came at 23 or 24 was worth it.
I really had no idea whether Light was going to win in the end. All in all, very satisfying. Great series. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

Light underestimated Near for sure, "Yagami Lighto" lol. Ryiuu character was really something, too bad he wasn't in display that much in the later half of the series.
Cool ending of the series and with ryiuu putting Lights name in his book.
Gotta hand it to those anime and manga creators they are really creative when it comes to manuscripts.
Hollywood could sure use some of that creativity.
When is Dexter back?
any other tips on series are appreciated, what u watching at the moment? |

So, I'm reading some JG Ballard short stories.
I just read one called "Now: Zero". It's about a guy who writes in his notebook that his boss dies, and the next day his boss dies.
(See where this is going?)
He tries another one, and that guy dies too. So then he starts experimenting with it, by killing a criminal he saw on the news (he could), by trying to control how the person dies (he can), and by trying to do the impossible (he can't).
This short story was published in 1959. And it's Death Note! _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

Wow!
I wonder if the Death Note author had read it.
I know I've had nifty ideas just to find out later that "Simpsons did it".
The similarity with the impossible death not happening leads me to believe that they have read it. |

I love a good coincidence, but the Death Note author must have read it. Surely.
But to be fair, the brilliance of Death Note is what that guy did with the idea. How he used it and the characters he created to tell a story. Just interesting to see that the strange idea of killing people with a notebook goes back to 1959. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

Season 1, episode 3.. yay
Almost abandoned it after episode 1 but now its starting to grow on me. got a bit of a problem in that I'm using it to fill the edgy american drama shaped gap in my life until the next series of House turns up over here, which I am massively addicted to. Not sure dexter's got what it takes yet. |

Tthink I'm gonna start to read some books again, always good with variety. Btw anyone read "Cell" with Stephen King? I loved that one.

I liked Death Note a lot until the incident. That pretty much ruined everything for me as after it the series seemed to try and be the same as before except everything replaced with something less appealing or rechewing and dragging out things. Shame really.
Weird about that 1959 thing. Not that the idea is that old, but that I've never heard anything about it. Either the Death Note guy never mentioned where he got his inspiration or it is a really really weird big coincidence. Which I highly doubt. |
