...migrated that is. Guess I was born under a wanderin' star, like Lee Marvin... (obscure reference that pretty much dates me if you know it.)
I just moved to jolly old Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, me and my whole family and my 60-inch tv (I know, I can't use NTSC over here but at least I can have one helluva display for my Xbox and DVD player etc... I'm in love with that thing, hear? I'm never letting go of it! Never!)
Sad irony, I WAS living about 2 hours from where Siggraph will happen in a few weeks, now I won't be going.

really? wow, KL is a nice city, i really had a great time there...and it looks so futuristic too. You're in a nice place steven, close to singapore (which has some very interesting stuff to see) and indonesia - Bali especially. Kl has the worlds tallest buildings and the world's tallest flagpole
You're a nomad, just like me |

Texas was fun but a bit boring after 3 years. (Maybe that's just cause of my wanderlust curse.)
Yes, it's job related... what in my life isn't? I came here to work closer with my old friend and partner Alain Zaugg, founder of Optidigit. Poor wife and kids, forced to journey like gypsies cause dad's totally obsessed with 3d...
At least the school they'll be going to here seems better in many ways than the one they went to in Austin. |

Wow. I get tired at the thought of me moving from my bed to my computer.
Does it get difficult after a while packing everything up and moving, Steven? I mean, I know you mentioned how it must effect your family, but doesn't all the work get frustrating? I mean, moving a 60" TV to Malaysia can't be too easy... or cheap.
I'm glad you're settled now, though. I hope you find exactly what you're looking for in KL. Send me something Malaysian! |

You mean, something like that?
In case you do I want my own copy too, Stahlberg. No matter if you hate me or not. BTW, judging from your name you gotta have some German ancestors, right?

Hey, Flat666, I don't hate you. In fact I kinda admire your perseverance in spite of overwhelming resistance...
It's a swedish name, with the ring over the a and everything. But I wouldn't be surprised if there was a horny german way back in the Hansa trader days that got one of my greatgrandmothers pregnant...
Lee Marvin, he's a fairly famous actor, did a lot of cowboy movies, then in the sixties he tried recording a song, with horrible results. (I was boooorn under a waaaaanderin' staaaaar...)
I didn't do a bit of the work this time, except luggin my suitcase. I left my wife in charge of the big move. But she didn't do any heavy lifting either, the movers did. But I guess when the shipment arrives in August I'll be breaking my back... Yeah I hate the mechanics of moving, I hate flying, etc, but you just can't stay in one place all your life on this incredible earth! |
