geez, I need to do many more studies from life, like a thousand at the very least, maby set aside trying to paint awesome rad flying robots for a while and learn how to make sense in the broad range. I remember ol' spooge said the art lives in the big shapes and big value relations, gotta learn how to not be distracted by visions of refinement and learn simplifying and drawing the right way. It seems when I paint to impress myself and others I fall face down because I never "figure out" the painting at the beginning

I'm trying to build up my skills of imagination and visualization. what are some ways you guys get your creative juices flowing? I'm trying to find that flow where I "see" an image in my head and paint it like a study, its pretty challenging but I'm finding I enjoy painting 10x more than if I let the painting dictate what I do...
