yo guyzzzz some mAd tyt3 works y0!!!!1111!

a couple studies, trying to understand what spooge was always saying about drawing not being in the lines, trying to use these blobs of tone to show some form!
Well, it comes out like a monkey drawing with its poo, but learning is the key here so I'm happy to get a start on that!

lemur, im really enjoying your stuff from life, however, i feel you could make it a little easier on yourself and pick subjects with a little more light/dark contrast and less clutter.

I like that ship watmough, and I really appreciate your advice! will do this with future studies. trying to run when I can't walk is fun, but i've knocked over so many fruitstands and ladders it gets messy.

I should've done this in 10 minutes, then why did it take an hour? gah my imagination feels like it took a vacation-

I also really enjoy your studies, lemur! Smile
I think you have very unconventional color palettes which is great. But your paintings often linger in the midtone areas. Like watmough mentioned, you should have more value range with strong highlights and dark shadows also.
Maybe apply auto levels once in a while and see what it does to your image (it can be pretty eye opening sometimes... ), but only use it as a guide. Smile

watmough, mitsui: nice!

nothing to see here, move on! Very Happy

style33 > Thxz Man.
annisahmad > Yup yup and really like the designs and some of the character acting in the show but i feel that the story could have been more.~ hmmm.~ interesting. But i still like it anyway. Haa. Interesting creature designs you have there. Smile
Cpt.Obvious > What can i say. It's Nice.~! Loving it.
Paoo > Thxz man.
Nag > Thxz man.~ Love your stuff too. I really like how you use your color. It look like very thick oil paint. Oohohoh...~ Niceee...~~
Hideyoshi > "!" you back. Haa. Cool stuff as always.
Vyse > Haa. I posted it twice to get more people to, hmm.` join in the fun? Haa. Cos it's kind of rather quiet there. Razz
The Insane Lemur > Interesting series of studies you have there, and i'm really enjoying too. And the qoute you qoute from spooge. It's enlightening man. I think i still paint with a sense of doing a line drawing of some sort rather than fully focusing on the form issue. Thxz for sharing man. T_T Need to train more.~!
Mitsui > Lovely stuff. I i i.. also want to get an iphone too.~! But it's pretty expensive here in singapore and T_T I'm a poor artist. Haa. But do post more. Interesting stuff you have there.

And to the rest of the guys.~! Cool stuff man. It's like my daily routine to come here every monring to get inspired. Smile
A practise i did referencing Russell Crowe from Master and Commanders.

Hideyoshi- thankyou for the advice! I'm thinking that from the outset I need to hammer in the extremes along with the midtone as dictated by what I see, from imagination or otherwise. I hear its best to have three points to work from per plane.

I've been timid though, which is a terrible thing for a painter, the problem with when I work from my head is that sometimes I don't "see" the image I'm going for in my brain, and just kindof hack away, only looking at the painting, with no sense of what is going on and where to establish the limits (or what it should look like in general for that matter), I really need to get better at visualization and loose all the fear of ruining a painting. Its not like these things are worth much anyways!

Thanks Raytoh! I like the painting, but his head seems overworked, try handling it the way you did that left hand and you're golden!

heres a scribble, somethings wrong with it, the sky seems cheap or maybe im lingering in the midtones again! Razz

That is the bigger size. I make these this small, so I will not be tempted to go in to details.
