This topic can be where you post your dreams for the world to see. I'll start with a dream I had lastnight;
Dreams can often take place in our own neighbourhoods, but the neighourhood is slightly or drastically different. Up the end of my street is a storm water drain with many networks of pipes leading off to all parts of the suburbs. I was walking up there, late afternoon, one of the pipes was up really high in the cement, I could see a person sitting on the edge in the pipe meditating. The person was consumed in mystical flames, illuminating the dark pipe with an orange glow. Then on the opposite side of the main cannal, was an identical pipe with another person doing the same thing.
"How strange," I thought to myself. Dark clouds were descending over the place, then it started to rain. It was getting late and the cannals started to get higher with water. Water started flowing out of the pipes and before long, I was waist deep in the water. The water was kind of discoloured and I think it was getting browner. I was running, trying to get home when before I knew, it was dark. I couldn't see anything, I could just feel the water and hear the sound of gushing water. I put my hands out and could feel the cold edges of a pipe -- I was inside a pipe. I continue to move, against the gushing water, wet and confused, frightened! Everything smelled mossy and damp.
That's all I can remember, share an interesting dream with us please! |

When i was about 5 to 8 i had this repeating dream. I'd dream there was a monster living in the darkness above my bed (had a 2-story bed) and i'd climb up the ladder every time, wake up, and the next time my dream would continue where i left off the other night. The cycle ended when i finally dreamt i got up there, saw a big black thing rushing at me, fell down and woke up. Weird. |

Yea, a slightly odd dream. It's not exactly exciting plot-wise, but the circumstances were odd. It was a traingin weekend (I'm a member of an organization that organizes summer camps for kids in the 14-15 age range., and it was one of the training sessions they hold for organizers.) and it was held at this villa-type place, owned by some nice woman who'd allowed us to use it or something. So there we were, and for some reason people were playing all kinds of games all around the place. I was going outside to see what was going on out there, but noticed my shoes were nowhere to be found. I only found a very similar pair of shoes, but not mine, so I assumed someone must've accidentally taken mine. I went out to try and find my shoes (And that's what I did all through the dream) but couldn't find them - there were hundreds of people there, and quite a few of them had shoes almost like mine.
They were also starting to play a game outside, the rules were being explained as I entered the scene. There were 4 people standing in a row and a bunch of small children with small bows and arrows opposite to them. The four people were all smiling (It seemed to me they'd just been picked up somewhere to stand there while the rules were explained, and didn't actually have anything to do with the event) as someone told the rest what it was all about. Apparently the kids were meant to try and shoot the people with their bows and arrows, while the people being shot at were supposed to repel the arrows somehow. It seemed a bit odd to me, and I wondered if the arrows were sharp or not. Anyway, I had to find my shoes, so I moved on.
I noticed everyone started heading back inside, but I wanted my shoes, so I didn't follow them. I did try to see if anyone had my shoes, but didn't find them. I went inside at a different entrance, and ended up wandering around the house. It turned out that what had seemed like a pretty average summer cottage was indeed a veritable mansion. The floors were polished marble, there was a room full of delicate glass items and ornaments - I tiptoed through, careful not to break anything - and outside, on the side of the house I hadn't been to, there was a great big garden with gardeners and all. But no sign of my shoes.
I walked about a bit, and noticed that it wasn't a mansion at all - it was a mall. There was a cinema there (I don't remember what was playing, though) and a beauty salon of sorts. I stuck my face onto the glass wall of the salon, only to notice the women inside were looking at me in a strange way, so I turned away. Still no sign of the damn shoes. Moving on, I noticed the others people attending the training weekend were shopping there, apparently buying snacks and stuff before heading back home - the weekend was about to end, someone said it was 15.50 and that the bus would leave at 16.50, 50 minutes from then. Which was quite illogical, but that's what they said. I felt a slight tinge of panic - I didn't want to leave without my shoes, and the place was huge! That's when I woke up, and thought I need to fall asleep again to get my shoes. Then I realized it wasn't real, and that my shoes were probably not missing at all, and felt quite relieved... |

I actually had a dream a few days ago that literally felt like a life time. I mean, I ended up meeting this woman, getting married, having a kid, getting a job....man! what a nightmare. Glad it was just a dream. |

xyz: that's called lucid dreaming. I had one as well, but I was a bit too aware that it wasn't real and was just mainly pissed off that nothing I did would really matter...

Just thought I'd put in my 2c's.
Affected, lucid dreaming is a shamanic skill. From what I've heard, if someone develops the ability to a high level, he or she can consciously dream themselves into someone else's dream and perform healing on that person. Native American people call them dreamwalkers, from the little I know.
All of this falls outside of my framework of experience, but I think its a very beautiful idea. |

I have some really odd dreams. But since people are on the subject of reoccuring dreams...when I was in the ages of 7-12 I kept having a dream that I was with the little homicidal doll Chucky and I had to do things for him and etc....I always ended up pissing him off and being scared shitless.
My most recent dream was like a past incident in my life- I was riding bike with friend and I ended up getting horrid road burn [basically my feet and head were the onlybody parts that werent in pain]. Now here's the dream...same thing happened but when I hit the ground I managed to go flying out of my bed [ended up like 2 ft away from it] and hitting my head on my desk's leg. |

xyz, I don't know if this will help, but what your talking about sounds a little like sleep paralysis. Don't worry, its not serious, just really unpleasant.
Basically, when we sleep the brain gently 'paralyses' the body so we don't flip around too much and wake up. Sometimes, though, it doesn't wear off properly and we wake up, but our bodies are still switched off. Bit of dirty trick, really.
I'd thought I'd mention it because its happened to me a few times, and like you,I woke up feeling totally paranoid. Its just a freaky thing our bodies do sometimes, though.
Plus, as affected pointed out, you also seem to be lucid dreaming, which is something else again. I can't comment on that, I don't really know that much about it. I do know from friends that have had the experience that it can be really intense. I'm not sure what I'm trying to say now, so
I'll shutup now before I start to ramble.

Ooh, I remember this guy who told me of an experience he'd had.. Kind of like sleep paralysis in that the dream continued around him when he woke up, but he wasn't paralyzed. He got up one morning and headed for the living room in his flat, jumping over a huge imaginary bug on the way...

Ok...this may seem odd but whatever I'm a weird person. When I was about 8-10 I had a great fear of things in my closet in the dark(that's not quite uncommon) but I also had a fear of Mike Tyson. So to this day I still remember this dream I had were I woke up in the middle of the night, and out came a cartoon-like Mike Tyson (This was about the time Mike Tyson's Punch-Out was in my nintendo. Go figure) But I tried to scream and I could not here myself, and I tried to move but I couldn't. He just walked out and ran across my room and left, maybe an hour later I had the guts to close my eyes and to fall asleep. This is not the only time this has happen to me(sleep-paralysis or whatever) and I have quite a few Lucid Dreams also.
Another thing, that I've been wondering about dreams, is that you cannot die in your sleep or you actually die. It has remained true so far for me, but what about the rest of you?
Sweet Dreams,

I never get hurt in my dreams. Well, I do get shot with arrows and the like, but there's no pain. Others die, though. Eaten by lions etc.

I've only had one dream where I died, and in this dream I met 'Death'. There's this story, a folk tale, which says that the face of 'Death' looks different for each one us. Well for me, Death looked like a smiling woman in her sixties. She had on a blue straw hat and a blue flower print dress, and she talked A LOT. In the dream I was really pissed off about being dead. "Its not fair, I'm not supposed to be dead, its not my time. I've still got lots of things I want to do..." But when Death came up to me, she looked so kind that instead of ranting on, which I'd been doing, I burst into tears and woke myself up. Strange dream, but comforting too, in a way. When I die I know there'll be a cup of tea waiting. Death had tea and coffee all laid out buffet style, champagne too for anyone who felt like celebrating.
Just thinking about, maybe I have had lucid dreams. This dream was really clear and bright, everthing looked right like I was actually 'somewhere'. Not like my usual bitsy, rambly dreams. |

I hate those dreams that are incredibly realistic and you can't figure out if they are real or not. Screws with my head big time. Those and the ones that continue...like you have a dream a couple years ago that never was finished and you dream the rest of it a couple more years down the road. |

I really hate those dreams that completely reflect all your wishes and desires and turn out not to be real
Makes you want to knock yourself out cold with a chair to keep dreaming. |

No, no, Transcendence, don't hate those dreams, flow with them. They're special. They show, imho, that something really significant (and magical) is happening inside you at a deep level.
I've had a number of them, too. I can't explain them, but they were so profound and so beautiful, that they started to shake me into a different way of seeing the world, or to put it another way, 'reality'. Dali said it much better than I can. He made the comment once that if we could perceive the universe as it truly is, the power and the beauty would be terrifying. Perhaps these dreams are a glimpse of that. They've certainly played with what I think of as 'real'.
"...am I a man dreaming I'm a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming I'm a man..." (Lao Tsu, I think??)
(I hope I'm making sense. This stuff is hard to put into words).

spitfire: mine usually reflect my paranoia and negativity...not wishes and such.
Thorn: as for the continual dreams; yes, there are some dreams that I have enjoyed that are like that. A couple that I still vividly remember. Realistic dreams could be highly injected with fantasy and they still seem very real. I would go into detail about 1 of them - but I'm sure you all dont want to hear about it. It goes under the beauty category. Sorry if all of this is scattered about..i sometimes type what i'm thinking [and that's how I think]. |

I sometimes have really scary dreams, but it generally only happens when I'm stressed or sleep-deprived.
I can't stop it and I know its gonna happen before I close my eyes. The moment my eyes shut I feel like I'm falling through my bed and I become immediately paralysed this is followed by some intense paranoia sometimes halucinations. I fucking hate it. I remember one time trying to scream to wake my GF but no sound coming out, she woke up shortly after to find me staring at the ceiling, white as a ghost and sweating like a pig. She wanted me to go to the doctors, but it doesn't happen often enough for that I don't think.
Has anyone had similar experiences? I hope not.
Yours (in fear of the dark)
Tony

I used to have dreams along the lines of 'Dawn of the Dead', but not nearly as gory. The very thought of everyone behaving the same and going out of their way to eliminate those with a train of thought scared the shit out of me. Still does.

El tigre: No, not exactly, but I had one that didn't end when I woke up... The sensations, the sounds, the terror, they were all still there, in my head. I had a thingling sensation in my hands. When I put my index finger and thumb togeher it felt like there was an infinitely small and hard bead between them. The sound I mentioned wasn't exactly audible. Sort of a buzz in my head, and also the feeling of a huge crowd of people screaming at me, without making a sound.
I still get it sometimes, when I'm tired. All of a sudden, everything appears to slow down a tad, all the sounds become threatening, and my head feels odd. I hate that.

i have dreamt that i walk in a circle bumping in to people (they are misfigured and dead) when i have walked some laps, they all merge in to a big "superior beeing" then it all starts over again.
and once i have left my body.
And i have been killed by a drugaddict whit a crooked needle...he stabbed me in the stomach, and every hit he tore my guts out, ripping them out with a crooked needle...then i felt the air go out of me, and i died. Then i woke up in my second life and i had been granted a gift, the gift of mental projection. I tryed to make beams of air with my hand and i acedenatly killed a group of people...(i had this teacher in the second life, a invisible angel).
i have dreamed very strange dreams... i have dreamt i was a russian soldier in a war, beeing hunted by english soldiers. |

ever have a dream where you think youve just woken up from a dream...but you havent. those really freak me out because when i really do awake up im not so sure for a few minutes... :P
and can someone shed some light as to how im able to have extremely long dreams (some spanning the course of weeks or months) in relatively 2 hours? is it because your brain sort of skips events in your head? because the dreams always seem to flow naturally when theyre occuring but when i try and remember back on them i cant patch together things that happen. or is it merely because your brain works extremely accelerated..
and..er..when people sleep walk -- are there eyes closed? if not, answer this... why is it if a person were to close their eyes while awake and try to navigate their house they would find themselves walking into walls, yet when theyre sleep walking, they can easily walk down a flight of stairs without injury? thats just assuming their eyes are closed, which i have no idea of.
2 last things..ever have that feeling like when youre trying to fall asleep, you feel like your entire bed is being thrust back and forth, as if it were on a slingshot? i dont know but sometimes when im really not tired but i have to get some sleep -- that feeling occurs..just wondering. im usually a good sleeper, i can fall asleep right away most days and i havent had a real nightmare (that i can consciously remember) in 7 years...i dont understand why its so hard for some people to fall asleep. just relax a bit, dont think and just kinda drift away :O |
