I recently watched Cloverfield , really cool movie! and so that inspirerred me to do a "cloverfield" of my own this is not the original monster but was inspirrered by it. So i took some parts that i liked, and redesigned it. I am mainly thinking of its legs.
After that it was just alot of painting of destruction and mayhem on stockholm hehe:)
I would think storywise that this concept could be connected with another painting i did not too long ago. Concerning the arrival of this monster.

hey samson, i really like them both.
However, I do have one small critique- the creature's face... kind of looks like he's a happy, smiling creature. It's just the way you've designed it's jaw, and so on. I would suggest changing that into something more serious? |

Woah, these are both excellent! Very refreshing to see that kind of stuff here again ;D Been missing the mattepaintings.
The smiling monster is really weird. I like that tho ;D
The second one is indeed a great matte. Could be used for a movie imo. Would like to see it animated.
Grest work!!! |

The second one is very convincing. In the first picture, though, it looks like your light sources are inconsistent, and I think you've pushed the tonal range of your source photos a bit too far, creating a kind of unnatural look. Some highlights kind of gray out, and the value dynamic in the bottom and lower halves are completely different, the top being extremely soft and detailed, while the bottom is quite contrasty. Also it just looks a little too... pretty somehow, a slightly less deliberate composition might make it more believable.
Most of those crits could probably be dealt with a bit of work with the curves tool, though. |

Aww, nice. I had some Burger King once, down one level from the camera's perspective on that first painting. Glad I saw Stockholm before it was devastated ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |
