Samson.. i like your last one very much.. have to think of i am legend movie.. Smile

ok this one is not a speedpaint (4 hours to this point), but since the idea started as a speedpaint ill post it here. im really trying hard to get faster and not "constructing" to much to give it more speedpaint character, but im having a hard time bringing my ideas on the screen with just a few loose strokes like you guys do it with such wonderful results..!

how can i get away from "slow" rendering to more speedy painting ? wheres the trick ? is there a trick ? Smile

hot sh#t all around.

Raybender: No expert on this by any means, but, My feeling is that it takes a certain amount of "bravado" and confidence in color and shape design. Basically, just f*ck up a few pictures(edit: alot of pictures) as fast as you can but, still, with high concentration.

After a few f$ck ups, looking at the "bad" work, the "bad" work will start to feel like a bamboo stick to the hand...then, you'll know what to paint and what NOT to paint.

raybender: that picture is very nice.. love the colors.

imo, getting away from construction is not something you wanna do.. spooge for example, always wrote about the importance of construction when he was around here

to get a faster painter, i think all you can do is paint alot, find shortcuts and so forth

It's all a question of economy. The more lines you draw the longer it takes.

Spooge used to talk about his own speedpaintings as an attempt to capture something with the least number of lines possible. There's certainly some technique involved in that, but mostly I think he was talking about learning to see what gives something its form and values, and trying to capture those form/values in just a few strokes.

Trying to capture the essence on the first go, or perhaps the second and third go, but certainly not too many more than that.

That was my understanding of what he was trying to do anyway. Whatever it was, it worked.
