Hey Lakka looks like your working hard , keep up the good work. One thing I find with your work is that your little scribbles are very distracting. It seems your just filling objects with scribbles for the sake of doing so, always try and make every brush stroke mean something. I like what you have done on your last picture, the little grim reaper and chain is very will done, you have a solid silhouette and lighting. Try painting with a larger brush for the closer objects and not worry so much about the small details. Try a keep in mind the shape and lighting, you can paint wonders with just silhouettes and color tone. Of course scribble work great for highlights like sunlight on water or for a fur rim light for your giant there, try and save the scribbles for rim lights and far distances. Also don't be afraid to fill areas in solid shadow and work with really subtle fill lights to create more dramatic lighting. Anyways just a suggestion.
Peace,

YEah I've been drawnig a bit more as I quit my usual timewell
Thanks for the crits, and yeah I know I tend to put scribbles everywhere. I kind of see what I want to see, when I do the scribbles I think like "yeahsss I like looks like a rock now" and afterwards it looks like a chinese battleship.
A bad habit I've been practicing since, always :p
the scribbles kind of spoil that cave image now that I look at it, didnt even notice I had those there.
But thanks for pointing it out! Gonna try working on it tomorrow after I've done some shopping (shopping on the 23rd ftw )
Still, i need to think out how to texture different things someday, though I should probably find another route for it
I tend to leave the stuff I work on for awhile quite plain just for the reason that I'm quite horrible at texturing
oh well some more scribbling, hopefuly next time it'll look cleaner
Should of cropped/resized but I'm off to bed!

Cicinimo, thanks!
P-Rik, great city painting! I know that question about details was rhetorical, but I wanna answer it anyway:). The scale of constructing gets smaller and smaller, and you have to keep accurate all the way. Therefore the work gets harder exponentially. Besides, the more details you give to the viewer, the more demanding his perception becomes.
Worked over the stalker pic, trying to improve things. Still don't know how to fix lower section. May be it's easier just to paint it anew.

@Lakka, a good way to add texture is through dual brushes. Also i remember spoogedemon talking along time ago about always stroking the shortest distance. This also can add a lot of texture and frequency. I painted quick over your orc as an example .
edit:
Cool orc ax--hv. After i saw your orc I decided to draw one to.

Lakka: Definitely a good thing to focus on > that looks a lot better than your previous works.
maybe a way to avoid some of those unecessary lines is avoid using the really bright white. It feels like you're using dodge a lot and I don't know if you are, but if possible avoid dodge and burn entirely, just use colors (that's a weird way to put it, I mean use the color palette like you do for other tones, even for highlights and shadows as opposed to using dodge and burn). but the coat really works.
I painted something but it looks terrible... if i do something worthwhile i'll edit this post and put it up so this isn't just wasted space.
question for disco: can you create those dual brushes in painter? |

Yea I've tried to avoid overuse of white recently, but thanks for pointing that out Sampster! I only wish the colorpicker in painter could be a bit bigger so it would make it easier to do a small change in color :p Havnt used burn nor dodge though
my shadows and midtones and brightspots tend to be wayoff and thus standing out like hell, but I recently got some info on color/light so hopefuly this area has improved from what it used to be.
Also this is a reason why I've had quite drastic contrast and lighting in my recent pictures :p (Crits for lighting would be highly appretiated btw!)
I'll keep that in mind Sampster as I start to feel creational later tonight :p
(which will lead in to a picture for this post of mine) |

Lakka> I think you should try spending more time on each painting; trying to get the fundamentals right, such as pose, proportion, anatomy, and value. Do you draw on paper? Nothing can beat that; and nothing can cover that up. A few years ago, when I first got my tablet I thought the tablet would make up for not drawing on paper and i was wrong. Nothing does. And me working more with traditional media only improves my ability to draw/paint digitally, without me even touching the wacom. It's good to just... spend time on things to learn them right the first time.
nothing digital- at least nothing i can show. so this is just something from a few months ago to accompany the post. marker+chalk
