I'm surprised anyone bothers with me at all--especially that I haven't had time to do any new pieces for a while now (busy with art directing full-time and composing the score for a game). What I don't like about art directing is that you do a lot of quickie mock-ups to show artists what you're after, but you don't get to do any real "finished" works that can actually beef up your own portfolio. But of course, the art directing you do will help you get the next art directing job, so it's like a never ending circle of not having any new personal works. The kind of stuff I do for clients when I freelance are usually not the kind of thing I'd do for myself too. Such is life. |
