Hey-hey, folkses!!!

Well, Bo-bo's second column over at the awesome Comic World News is now up! This month he talks about French comics writer Jean-David Morvan and in particular his series "HK". GO HERE to enjoy the images, soak up my bro's genuine love for great comic books, and learn a little about a title you may not have come across before...!

Next up, another London con sketch. This one was for a long-time Blink reader who's had a few sketches from me before. He asked for something a little different this time in the form of a Lorenzo-take on a Transformer, and, well, here's the result! Note in particular how I was doing quite well until the final stage, where for some reason the front fenders disappear altogether! Still, real rods should always fun fenderless anyway, right? Haha!

More faster than you can say: "Damn it Lorenzo, quit slacking and update, you Chump!"

So, today is an exciting day in the world of the Blink, as for the first time in the three or four years we've been making comics together, my bro Robin and I are actually gonna live in the same city! Yes, today Bo-bo officially moves to town! Alllllright! Good to have you here, brother!

Next up, here's a little piccie I did for my wonderful girl for our 6 1/2 year anniversary, which we celebrated this weekend. As ever, Esty is the greatest thing in my life; she continually fills my days with colour, laughter and smooches! Thank you baby, you're purrrrfect!!

More new piccies just around the corner, peeps!

So, I was rooting through the Blink Library the other day and it struck me that I'd never taken a pic of all the Blink Products together, so...here they are! Lots more on the way too! Ha-zaa!

Next up, to see you into the weekend with a smile, two more sketches from the London MCM expo we attended in May. These both feature dear ole' Ratt messing around in veeee-hicles! Both are drawn in humble ole' blue Biro, (or ballpoint pen). Enjoy!

Hey Blck Productions! Haha! Ah, don't say that pal! I hope you can use the elements of this stuff that you like to inspire your own ideas, thank you so much for the kind encouragement, hope you enjoy today's posts! Cheers!

So, those of you who are web-savvy will of course come across the awesome Deviant Art, one of the internet's biggest and best free on-line gallery sites. Never one to shy away from a great creative community, I've been posting new work up there for a little while now, and today I posted our 400th seperate image!!! Lordy! Anyways, I'm always up for chatting to folk in there, so why not drop by and say hi? Alternatively, just have a root through the gallery, which you'll probably find a little easier to navigete than this thread. The Studioblinktwice Deviant at page is RIGHT HERE.

Secondly, another look at art from our Sasquatch story for Viper comics. Regular readers of this thread will remember I posted the sketch design of this robot a while ago, and here it is in the final mix!

More soon!

Wow...i simply love these, mate! wonderful layout designs and art. One thing that always struck me with your work is that I feel the characters are alive in these pages, and I want to be a part their fictional worlds. I assume you are from an animation background?

Two thumbs up from me, and please keep us updated!

Hey-hey, Synnical! Thank you so much, pal! Yes, I put a lot of work into trying to really make the worlds and environments come alive, so I'm really glad to hear you dig that! Thank you! No, not an animation background - sculpture of all things! Haha!

Okay, so unusually I can't show you anything new this week, since I've been hard at work on various projects I can't post just at the moment. Obviously posting NOTHING would simply not do, so I wandered down into the vaults here at Blink Towers and found some stuff which for one reason or another is unlikely to see the light of day in any kind of finished format. Hope you enjoy,

What a load of old Tosh indeed!

So, to start with, just a lil' ooooooold one here, a web flyer for the original Space Log, the first in our series of MOON! companions. If you live in the UK, you can pick it up in the store HERE at SBT!

Next, another sketch from the Bristol con here, this one for Uber-super-fan #1, Mikey! The image depicts the little penguin with the lollipop and the toy duck that I hide somewhere in every comic we produce; that's right, he's tucked away in every copy of Malcolm, Tusk, and MOON! Get searching, folks!

And finally, more pages from our MOON! story in Viper's Sasquatch Anthology, here Bigfoot prepares for his opening scene in "It Came From Over There!"...

...he's like, SO method!

More soon, cup-cakes!

A few more concepts from the first season of MOON! here, featuring a re-design of Rector's hover chair, an idea for the look of an audition booth from the opening scene of issue 1, and a Tug Truck from issue 2. More in a bit, folkses!

Three from totally different schools of thought today! First up, another Sasquatch page, part of which was you may have seen in full colour around these parts before, but heres the full page in pencils, dig those villains!

Next up, some would-be actors from the world of MOON!

And finally, just a little doodle of a slightly cross-eyed girlie with something funny in her ear!

Ah, and today is moving day, so we shall say goodbye to dear ole' Blink Towers, the place where Malcolm Magic and MOON! and ONITC were born and raised! But fear not, for we're heading to Castle Blink, and Im about to get Medieval on yo a$$, Holmes!

Ooh!

So, my ole' bro's gone and written another Doozey over in his "Comics have never been so much fun" column at the mighty Comic World News. The theme this month focuses on great children's comic writing, and as he mentions the genius that is Watterson, I thought it was a good enough excuse to rustle up a little Calvin and Hobbes biro sketch. Don't waste time looking at my pic though, GO HERE to read his great column, and hey, don't just take my word for it, GO HERE to see that those kool kats over at TOP SHELF dig it too! Great work, broski!

Following that, two more concepts from MOON! today, the first of Ratt's rocket pack, as used in Issue 1, and the second of Serenity in one of the many costumes she'll be wearing for her roles as Lead Starlet for MOON! movie studio's various properties.

Enjoy!

Lorenzo!

Sweet updates!!! They just look effortlessly awesome! I really like that vehicle with the carburetor-looking thrusters Smile and the new covers are great too, I chuckled at the rocket-strapped baby elephant ! and you drew Calvin and Hobbes! I love the layout of that one, and the way you render the tree...beautiful to behold.

Do you ink most of these digitally? and how much time does it take you to complete one inked drawing ? the amount of detail is really incredible...

keep rocking Smile

Hey Max! Thank you soooo much, pal! Cheers! Lots more on the way soon, buddy, hope it continues to make you smile!

Synnical! Pal, THANK YOU soooo mcuh for the kind words on the recent updates! Yeah, i had a lot of fun coming up with a load of vehicle designs recently, more on the way! Ah, and no picture is complete without a rocket-pack -eqipped miniature elephant, right? Thanks too for the kind words on the Calvin and Hobbes piccie. Oh, and another of my takes on someone else's characters today, though this one's more "official"! All the inking on the sketches is done in biro of all things, cleaned up in the computer using photoshop. Time taken to complete pics really varies. Some take me less than an hour, other a whole day! D3epends if I'm in the groove or not!

Hey Thom! Thank you pal! Hope you enjoy today's colour work too!

Well, I thought I had better come in here and let you guys know what's going on, as there's been a somewhat cavernous delay in the ole' Blink posting of late. The news is, there's too much news! Between moving studios, new projects, special projects and general MOON! goodness, I've not been able to get the time to sit down and 'puter it, and for that you gotta' accept my apologies. Stick around though, folks, 'cos there's some BIG stuff coming! To keep you going, and to get you buzzing for what's on the way, here's a little teaser for a new comics project I've recently been employed to work on, which hopefully fans of a certain animation studio will get very excited about! Proper announcement on it's way, folks!

Hey-hey, P-rik!! Thank you soooo much man! What a great respose!! Much, much appreciated! Loads more on the way pal, hope it all makes you smile! Cheers!

So, time to get back on that ole' forum posting horse and ride, ride, ride...as they say. Ha-HAAA! Here's a not-so-little chap who plays a rather dramatic role in the main issue 1 chase scene. Ooooh...clowny.

Next up, exciting news, folks, the Indie Spinner Rack anthology, entitled "Awesome" is now available to pre-order, so I thought I'd better come in here and tell you about it, and at the same time post a little pencils-only teaser. Those of you who are long-time Blinkers may well remember the concepts I posted for this story a while back in "burger wrapper" themed stlyees. GO HEREfor a preview of each and every story by all the talented folk involved, as well as links to where you can order it and info on the launch party etc. Go get soooome!

Holy monkey-chow! Lots of news today

I can now announce that I am now an official Dreamworks artist for their Dreamworks Tales comic! When I was approached by Titan to work on the title back in May, I was at first hesitant, not because I didnt want to get involved in the awesome world of DW, but because I was concerned it would eat into my MOON! work time. My Ed was totally sympathetic to my schedule though, and together we came up with a workload which suited us both. I was offered the choice of which property I wanted to work on (Shrek, Over the Hedge, etc) and eventually we decided that Madagascar was the most suited to my style in terms of both look and humour. So, Ive got a couple of stories already drawn, the first of which will be in issue #4 on sale in a month or so here in the UK, I think, but Ill be able to confirm that properly in a few weeks. Having gone through the movie about 20 times since getting on board, I gotta say, Ive just come to love its oddball humour more and more, there is some absolutely fantastic character performances, and the whole thing has such a wonderful Tex Avery chaotic feel to it basically, right up Lorenzos street! Ha-zaa! Trust me when I say, Im gonna push the boat waaaaaay out for this one, folks, and Ill be showing you more as soon as I can! Enjoy!

So, I finally got the chance to come up with a proper page design for laying out the build shots of the Kustom I'm building with my Pa. Last time you saw the Amazonia, we were half way through getting the Dagmars and teeth in place. Well, here it is so far the nose is now shaved, and eight of the ten teeth are in place, with two more to go in. The entire grille surround will be getting a much smoother look, once Ive sculpted it all out, updates as they happen, folks, enjoy!

Along with all sorts of new stuff on the way, I'm buzzed to announce that my story of wandering romance in the big city is set to return this autumn. Stay tuned, folks, gonna take this one all over the place...

Finally, just a little experiment here, thought it would be fun to scribble up a pic of Serenity from MOON! in a different style, just for kicks. Hope you guys dig!

Lorenzo!

So, heres a quick concept of Teron from MOON! as RACE MADLY, his acclaimed on-screen persona. Regular Blinkers will spot that this is Collect-a-Sketch number 10, BEFORE weve had Collect-a-Sketch number 9! Has the world gone MAD?!!! Well, no, its just number 9 is taking a little while to clean, but its on its way, peeps!

Next up, a pic of a curly-haired cutie in a yellow dress becausewell, do I need a reason to draw curly-haired cuties in yellow dresses?! Haha! No, exactly!

More in Neu-Yoik-Minnut, as my Manhattan brethren would say!

Keep scribblin, folks!

Sohappy Monday morning, fellow Blinkers! The week stretches out ahead of us like a hiiiiighway of possibilities, and I hope youre all gonna get some good scribbling done over the coming days!

First post today is a concept shot of Serenity in the cockpit of a mystery machine from Season 1 issue 2 of MOON! Work those levers, grrrrrl!

Next up, a little web flyer to let you know that the latest instalment of my brothers fantastic column over at Comic World News is up. With the tragic loss last month of a comic book great, he decided to put on hold the previously advertised theme for this chapter, and instead has written about Mike and his wonderful Tellos series. Robin asked me to come up with a Tellos-themed illo to advertise the column, and of course I obliged as best I could. Go read it HERE folks

More in but a moment!

Lorenzo!

Hey Max! Pal thank youuuu! Yeah, man, that would be a fun looking movie, huh? Maybe one day...!

First up, another little teaser for the soon to be released Awesome anthology from Indie Spinner Rack

Next, those regular Blinkers out there will remember that in the past I've produced a few tutorials on colouring and suchlike. While they were useful to a degree, colouring is far from being my strongest skill as an artist, and besides, they essentially taught techniques which can be found better explained elsewhere on the web. However, this thread was never meant to just be about show and tell, I always envisioned it as a place where you can come to hopefully get a new idea or two to take into your own work, and maybe even a little bit of inspiration/motivation to keep you at the drawing board when the TV/Pub/Hot Fox Next Door* are tempting you away from your creative endeavours. So, without further ado, I'd like to announce the forthcoming School of Blink, which I will run right here in the Thread, and which will hopefully become a library of tutorials and discussions on imagination, creativity and invention within the realm of comics creation, storytelling and concept art. I hope it will be of interest to some of you, and for those guys who already know it all, well, there'll be some pretty pictures! Whoip!

Lorenzo!

*There is absolutely NO garuntee that these tutorials will be more entertaining than an evening with that cutie next door.

Lorenzo,

What a refreshing breath of fresh air to see your work! I can tell you put a lot of heart and soul into your work, and what's more I can also tell you have a lot of fun while doing it.

Your art has inspired me to pick up the pen and tablet and draw my first personal piece of artwork in 6 years! Thank you thank you thank you Smile It's really been that long since I did anything for myself that wasn't related to work. I really do think artists grow the fastest and the best when surrounded by great talent.

Looking forward to seeing what you share next!

~Greg

Greg!!! That post has absolutely made my day!!!! Thank you sooo much for the great words, and the news that this stuff in some way inspired you to do something for yourself is just...well, for me it's what it's all about! So thank you for letting me know that, I will do my best to keep this thread an exciting place to visit! And keep doing those personal projects!!

Cheers JP!! You're welcome!

Smultz alert! Turn back if you don't like luuuuurve!

So, I just got back from a great little scoot around Spain with my girl, and I wanted to come in and post this piccie I did for her. My amazing Esty has recently had to deal with a ton of very difficult stuff, things that most of us would find it hard to cope with at the best of times, and she has shown such strength of character and amazing resourcefulness, I'm just blown away by her. Unfortunately, it's taken it's toll on her sleeping, and my poor girl has had a lot of restless nights, so I wanted to do this pic to encourage her to think of all the good, fluffy stuff in life when she's snoozing next to me. I love you baby, you're just the most perfect girl in the world!

Lorenzo!

P.S. The Bear with the glasses is meant to be me, 'cos that's how it feels to be held by my girl!

Hmmmlots of things today, lets get on with em, eh? First up, issue 4 of DreamWorks Tales is now on the newsstands here in the UK, and I thought Id show you a little peek at the 6-pager Madagascar story I drew for it. Pencils, inks and colours by me, script and lettering by John Green and Jimmy Betancourt/Comicraft respectively. Go get a copy!

Next up, for those pencil heads among you, the line work from the Madagascar teaser pic I posted earlier in September.

Moving on, we have another teaser for the forth-coming return of One Night in the City. I knocked this one up in Biro while waiting for a load of my pages to render on our dusty ole G3s here in castle blink. And they say slow processors are a bad thing!

Finally, a lil web flyer to announce that well be bringing all our Blinky bells and whistles to two rather fantastic conventions here in the UK this October, so if you wanna talk comic making, pick up some books, or some of our comic board for your own creations, or you just want a Lorenzo sketch, I hope youll be able to come along! Find out more about the Birmingham con HERE, and the London con HERE. Be good to see you, peeps!

Lorenzo!

P.S. I was fortunate enough to get another Daily Deviation over on DeviantArt last week, and to celebrate I posted a little exclusive up just for the DA peoples. You can check it out HERE.

Just a little one here to let you know that we'll be launching the 11th MOON! Sketch book at the Birmingham International comic con this weekend. Produced in the mini-dimensions of all our recent sketch books, this one is three times longer than normal, with 32 pages of all my recent sketches, designs and web teasers. We are also for the first time bowing to demand and allowing you to buy the sketchbooks on their own (normally they're only available for free with TPB purchases). So, you can come and pick up this slice of Blink fun for just 3 each, or FREE with every 20 you spend, what a bargain! Limited numbered edition of just 150, with the first 50available at the Birmingham con, and the rest available at the London MCM expo the following week, then they're gone for good! Scroll back to my last post for more info on the shows and links to both show sites...!

Soooooo, first up today, another sneak-peek at the pencils from our B&W MOON! story for the Indie Spinner Rack AWESOME anthology, which will be in comic stores from 17th October! Yeah!

Then, another little webflyer to let you know the School of Blink is coming soon. I've had a phenomenal response to the original posting on the blog/in the forums about this new tute' feature, and I'm really excited about rocking into Semester 1!

Then, a lil' sketch I did for my buddies over on the mighty ConceptArt...

...and finally, a little experiment in the form of a tin for a fictional drinking den called the Monkey Bar...

Weird!

Lorenzo!

oh, and I'll sure have some of those 'Draw Good' pastels, good sir. those must have helped, right? right?

thank you for the posts and keep it up!

Hey Syn'!! Thank you so much for the kind response, I'm glad you're digging the new stuff, particularly the ONITC pic - I had a great time drawing that one! Yeah, the Dreamworks stuff is a blast!! Sooooo much fun to draw! As for thos Pastels, hell yeah, they're the balls, as they say! Haha! Hope you dig todays's offerings!

So, what an awesome time we just had at the Birmingham con this weekend just gone! We cheerfully greeted a gazillion great peeps, chatted with old fans and regular Blinkers, met a whole new load of wonderful folks, and sent a LOT of people home with Blink Bags stuffed with Malcolm books, MOON! Space Logs and BT Comic Board! YEAH! Feel like you missed out? Well, have no fear, we'll be doing it all again THIS weekend (20th - 21st Oct) at the mighty London MCM Expo! Be there, of miss 'em, folks!

GO HERE to find out more, and we'll see you in the Big Smoke!

I did a whole load of scribbles, sketches and commissions at the Birmingham con this weekend, here's a lil' shot of a few of them, along with a higher-res version of one involving a rather large Squid thingie. More on the way!

So, just got back from London, and MAN was it a good show!! Big, BIG up to all the newbie peeps and old skool Blinkers we met and chatted to and just generally had a ball with. I can now also announce that the next public appearance of the Blink will be in the form of a 5-week original art exhibition as part of the Animated Exeter animation festival in Jan/Feb 2008. I'll also be running a workshop there, so stay tuned to this ole' thread to find out more soooon! Now, here's some lil' London piccies...
