Hey, I get from camp and find my cousin has been on my computer all week, and now I have some sort of strange virus or something.
Basically I have
an e-mail file in every signle folder in my computer and If I click on it it wants to execute some exe file in my temporary internet folder??
any Ideas how to get rid of it it..
I have used a file called fixnimda.exe to try and get rid of it but that didn't work? |

erk, that sucks. Well my opinion on viruses is you shouldn't touch your computer until you know what the virus is, and how to get rid of it. Have you tried going to some of the popular anti-virus websites to look it up? I really can't identify most viruses, but some sites have really good virus handling tactics and so forth, hope you don't have to end up formatting the thing, although if the computer doesn't have much on it that wouldn't be a big deal either... |

The trial of Norton Antivirus should suit your needs. |

Booting into safe mode (holding f5 when the windows logo appears) should also allow you to manually delete it, but some quick removal program will probaly do it to the same effect.
*sympathy* I know what loosing all your files to a virus is like. |

Freddio, what exactly is happening? You have one mail on ~129KB in EACH of your boxes like (sent, inbox, outbox) or you mean in each email account? Cause then it's normal, just delete it. I get those mails all the time |

although you could erase the actual email files through either safe mode or DOS, it won't remove the virus to do so, because the virus already existed on your computer prior to those files (it made them) and it also has significant access to your computer. I'd do a search on google or an antivirus site for the exact file name of the message that it replicates, or of the name of the executable it tries to run, and go from there. good luck |
