Hi,

Here is an image from my bachelors work, which is a demonstration of making a digital concept painting. It is a DVD product through which I demonstrate a working process from a blank page to a final sketch painting.

Next here are couple links to see very shortened version of demo, which is actually a workflow demo.

Link 1 640x480 Quicktime version (Warning! May take a while to load)
Link 2 Youtube

Ok. Well, I wasn't quite satisfied to whole picture, although it is done quickly. I had urge to enhance a lot that previous image shown above. Couple of days ago I finally made it and here is it... and still I'm not quite satisfied, but i don't know, perhaps a composition doesn't work, but anyway -- I don't want to put effort too much on this project. I hope that you sijun members like these images and wish you best. Kiai! Laughing

Hey,

Thanks for comments neff and noxi.

neff, yeh.. good that you got something from demo. That a perspective - vanishing point technique are used by some matte painters and I find it to be a good trick to also use on environment design and to all kind of images where critical perspective view is needed, but yeah.. thanks guys.

It's good, except that you forgot to apply the perspective to the figures. The guys in front should be much larger or the guys in back much smaller.

Hi Critical Pete and thanks for the critical comment. Smile

Yeah. That's right. Figures aren't right in the perspective. Good attention. Actually that was so good, which makes me to correct that flaw in near future.

i dont know why you aren't willing to put much more effort in it.I mean it's your bachelor work isn't it?

Don't get me wrong.that doesn't say anything about the image itself. In fact, i like it very much , good job! Smile

Very inspiring pic. I truly enjoyed watching the vid. Beside the other crits I'd like to add that the figures in the row seem to be off alittle. They aren't influenced by light at all, just black silhuettes, i guess that's the case.
Anyway. Hope we see more from you!

Thank you guys.

Soak,.. Well. I have already done the bachelor's work and had a good grade from it (officially I'm Bacheler of Visual Arts from start of a summer Smile), but what I meant about putting too much effort, is that, it's just an image from my work, which I wasn't quite satisfied. So I really wanted to remake it at my spare time. Image, what kind of I would liked to have when I was recording and painting the tutorial. Heheh.. hopefully I didn't described too complicated.

Max,.. Yea', I understand. Lighting on middle ground silhouettes disappeared when overlayed the textures and added some more darker hues. Also the shadows vanished. Too bad, but as I said before. I'm not too concerned on this images details.. maybe someday (because I inspired to make a new one) I will scale up a little bit those guys on middle ground.

Thank you again guys. Very good critique!

I just wanted to give you a compliment on one part of the transition. In the first version it feels like there's a big disconnect between the middle and the outside. The outside edges (on the left and right) looked really realistic but the middle looked kind of cartoony (especially because of the black figures).

In the second version there's still a bit of difference it seems to me, but the middle of the image belongs with the rest of the image, and the figure in the foreground is much, much better, both in color choice (using the cooler hues), and because of the size adjustment.

The other artists on here gave the critiques that are really important, and you're far better than me so I won't critique this, but good luck with your future artistic endeavors. Smile
