AjTron, hope you don't mind a crit- your pieces are very crowded in terms of detail and composition, there are no points to let the eye rest. I would suggest doing some black and white super-speed thumbnails of just lines and shapes and value, and try to make it as simple but appealing as possible. This will then end up tying in with your speedwork like you just posted. I think it will help make them more dynamic, and increasing their potential alot.

I love this place. Though my speedpaintings stinkerzzz =(

i know i have got a long long way to go.

I can't think of crap... can you guys crit the nuts out of me? I have no idea how to effectivley use textures and custom brushes.. I mean, I know how to make them, and I know all the settings, but I don't know how to use them to their full potential.

Any help at all is totally appreciated. I need so much help with composition, color, value.... I need help period! If anyone wants to hit me up on MSN or AIM, please feel free!

hey justin.. focus on one thing at a time, you can't think of composition, value and color at the same time when you're not that experienced, it will only leave you frustrated. compare it to learning how to ride a bike, and at the same time learning how to juggle.

first, you have composition and construction, then value, then color.

Alright, thanks!

I also decided I need to being working from ref and from life.

This is from a flickr photo, I think the biggest problem is I ignored the forms because I was focusing to much on the values, so the mountains are essentially just a bunch of mess.

great stuff crew. Hideyoshi, eol, Mitsui> Yeah!

Justin Oaksford> nice birdy, I wouldnt worry too much about custom brushes and overlays, Try to think of what your painting in the simplest terms possible, learn to render your geoforms effectively from any angle and youll be flying.
