I'll probably have a second look later but maybe try using hard 100& opacity brush? you can get some dramatic broken looking stuff that way easily |

Your working digitally... one of it's great advantages is being able to create a layer above what your working on and make the new strokes on that layer. If all goes well, simply merge the layer down and continue. If it does work out, delete the layer... or drop it's opacity back till it looks good and then merge it... digital, man, it's digital... _________________ HonePie.com

eyewoo is right. you should not be intimidated to experiement on different layers. i cant stand real paint.....digital goes exactly where you tell it.
*edit*

aye .. i guess you guys are right ...
ive been working without layers mostly... not all the time, but most of the time.
when you work with traditional paint, theres those 'wonderful accidents' that you get when you overlay paint or when you you try to fix something, or when you attempt to erase with huge amounts of turpentine ..
after a while i forgot i could layer ...
onwards ! |

Layering... IMHO probably the single most important aspect of the digital medium... _________________ HonePie.com

hurrah !!!!!!
me, that box and my apocalyptic world is coming together !
dont you love with when a painting you started blind with, comes together...
have to rethink that red light ... wonder if its necessary..
thank you all for the comments ... masters of the digital brush. |

To get from your fear of messing something up:
Draw (on paper) something cool, and erase it. Do this exersise many times.
Atleast this helped for me.
Buying Iain McCaig's gnomon dvd's also helps a little to think different
