I have a load of animation I would like to vectorise but due to lack of time we cant clean up the frames. The problem with this is that when vectorising the frames I get gaps in some parts of the linework which is a big problem as we need solid outlines to enable us to colour quickly and have clean mattes around the character.

So, I was wondering if anyone knows of some software that can bridge gaps in lines which should be continuous. Unlikely I'm sure but I thought it was worth asking.

I'm not sure you'll be able to find it anymore, but I "think" Adobe Streamline was configurable in this way... Perhaps someone experienced with it could tell you more...

The first image is the original after applying curves, the second is a vectorisation, this is not using the exact preset I created as I don't have that with me right now, but it gives you an idea of the problem. I should add this is one of the clearer frames...

Thanks for your efforts B0b, I cant seem to open that second file you posted. I did get similar result to you but my friends doesn't like the linework being so thick. Looks like the only solution is going to be for him to sleep two hours a night and do some cleanup Laughing .

I have no idea if this will help.

I have currently been using the pen tool to stroke (pencil) my lines. It is easy but a little time consuming. However I have gotten great results and nice clean crisp lines with it.

Unfortunately we cant afford to do this manually as there are 100s of frames to ink. My friend is just going to have to clean up a little better.
