i have been painting at court last semester, which was quite a challenge. people changed poses, suddenly there was a break or the whole trial was over after 20 minutes. i prefer my subject to stay still whilei struggle with the painting.
the sketches i made
pencil:
oils (these were also my first attempts at painting with watersoluable oil paints as turpentine etc are not allowed in court.):
this are some the final paintings i did from the collected material:

Reportage!
Great work, I know the challenge of drawing at speed and you've done very well. Are you being paid for this? I asume you can't just go to a courtroom and paint and draw without a reason. What's the context? |

actually here in germany you can. photography is not allowed, but drawing & painting is. the topic of my illustration class was indeed doing a reportage. this year we're going to visit some hospitals and paint there. |

these are great. I'm always interested to see "artist impressions" from court cases, and especially to compare the work of different artists on the same case. these pics here would be better than most "real" court pictures used by the media. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

Awesome awesome work, this has got to be such a good exercise for capturing forms and gesture without getting tied up in details... Those last four paintings are killer especially. I'm not sure what to make of this one though:
Did he seriously come to court like that? |

actually i dont remember. he did wear sth casual, but i think it was a bit different sweater. i saw one defendant appear in a tracksuit (is that the correct term?) if that answers your questions about the german dress code at court. would you be punished for that in the us? |
