I've been thinking about potential opportunities for summer work. I was wondering if any of the artists on this forum know anything about art-related internships.
I have a few questions,
Would I be good enough (Based on the stuff you've seen me post, I assume I would be doing mostly grunt work for people anyway)?
What kind of work place should I be looking to apply at?/Where are there opportunities? (Should I only apply at "graphic design" companies, though that's not my strong suit, or do any of you know of places where more drawing/painting is done where I could work?)
Would there be pay? (I need to make it financially viable, and if there was no pay I'd basically be restricted to some place very near to where I live)
Do you know of any specifics? (Unlikely, but if you work at any place that would have opportunities for high school grads, please let me know)
I know I have a long way to go artistically, but I'm willing to work hard. If you have any advice about seeking an internship in any field that involves art, or if you know of any specific opportunities, please reply here, message me, or send me email at [email protected].
Thanks. |

I haven't got any replies here, so I just wanted to bump this up and add:
If you have an answer but it's in the negative, please let me know anyway.
Aside from that... I could see that many of you wouldn't have a clear answer, but would it be a waste of time for me to put together a resume and portfolio and send in a letter explaining my interest? I want to be proactive but I don't want to waste my own and other people's time by applying for a job or work experience I absolutely couldn't get. |

it's never a bad idea to put a portfolio together, even if you won't get a job, perhaps you'll get some good pointers.
it's all about being out there, trying to establish contacts, and of course, working hard.
it would never be a waste of time for yourself, and don't worry about wasting others time. |
