Well now, I had an AWESOME time at the Exeter Expo this weekend just gone. Thanks to all youse kool kats who came down and spent a chilled Sunday chatting comics, pencils, and MOON! The Blink will certainly be there again next year, so I hope to see all you Exeter kids again then! Cheers!
The coming of the Exeter show commences the early show season here in the UK, with three more cons on the way over the next few months. The first of these is the UK Web and Mini Comix Thing on Saturday 17th March. The Blink are strong supporters of this one-dayer for all things Web and Indie, and we were lucky enough to be asked to produce the official Poster/anthology cover for this year's show. As with last year we have also produced 4-pages of exclusive MOON! Gung-Ho goodness for the anthology itself, where we will be joined by pages from many of the great exhibitors from the show. Below is the official poster, along with some snap-shots of last year's "rarer than rocking horse poo" anthology, to give you an idea of the kinda' thing you can expect to see. More on this show soon, as we have a rather exciting special release there for fans of One Night in the City amongst other things...
Coming soon, more teasers from the Viper book, so check back in, folks!!

Ho-key-dokey, so, it's just over a month until the April release of Viper's Sasquatch anthology, in which we are debuting the very first internationally available MOON! adventure. I'll be posting all sorts of goodies from this in the coming weeks leading up to the launch, but for today I just wanted to show you guys a little more of the concept work which went into our story. Hope you enjoy these little slices of environment, machine, kit and character design, and check out the official site HERE for tasters of all the other contributor's work, and news on the release date.
Cheers!
More soon!

Hey Wayne! Haha! Thank you man, glad you likey, hope you'll smile at today's pic! Cheers!
So, Ive shown a bit of the concept art from our MOON! story for the VIPER ANTHOLOGY , I guess it's time to show you some art from the final pages, huh? Colour previews coming soon, in the meantime, here's a page of pencils. It's a fifteen page story and every panel is crammed with as much nutsy Blink detail as I could muster, just how I know you guys like it!
More soon!

Ho-kay, two exciting ones today, the first is to announce that we will be releasing the 8th MOON! Sketchbook at the UK Web and Mini Comix Thing in London on Saturday 17th March. As usual, this baby will be a limited edition (50, numbered and signed) ONLY available at the con, and FREE for every 10 spent at the Blink Twice stand of deeelights! LORDY! Stay tuned for an announcement about the VERY special One Night in the City book we'll also be producing just for the show - news on this in a few days. Hope y'all can make it over to see us! The cover features the first appearance in this thread of MACY, a key MOON! character...
Secondly, and just as exciting, it's time to announce ANOTHER international MOON! release!! HA-ZAA! With the pages for Sasquatch and Fat Chunk (see earlier posts) wrapped, I'm now onto an eight-page special MOON! mini-adventure entitled "Braindead...and LOVING it!" to go in the Indie Spinner Rack anthology. Those of you who regularly check this thread will remember we've appeared on this great podcast in the past (listen to it HERE) and were totally buzzed to be invited to be a part of their first publication. The line-up for this book is PHENOMINAL, so be expecting us to pull out all the Blinky-stops to try and make our contribution as nutsy as we can! For a little change for your eyeballs, I will be presenting all the concept work for this title in a burger-wrapper-stylee, hope you enjoy...

Ho-kay, folkses! So, as promised, I can now announce that at the UK Web and Mini Comix Thing this coming Saturday (17th) we'll be launching a very special little One Night in the City book. Collecting the first 11 paintings, as well as previously unseen pencil panels and other such goodies, we're producing just 100 numbered and signed copies of this little bad-boy. The first 30 will be on sale at the Thing, with the rest being sold at the Bristol and London shows in May. I'll show you one of 'em in a few days right here in this ole' thread! Exciting, huh?
Today's posts continue the theme set out last week of sketch and design work for our story for the Indie Spinner Anthology. Although the anthology is to be all B&W, I'm producing a lot of these designs in colour, since they involve various key characters from the MOON! first season. SOULSTA in particular is very important in the series. Note too, my obvious and unashamed tribute to the great great Hampson in the familiar designs of Pop and Timbr. Expect lots more nods to the awesome Dan Dare in future posts! These are preliminary designs, and have yet to be fully approved by Robin, but still, here they are...
Oh, and finally, I was a little bored waiting for a friend in a bar recently, so I grabbed a napkin, asked the waitress for a biro, and did a little scribbling. rooting through my pockets the other day I found said doodle, and thought I'd scan it in a do a quick colour job in Photoshop, hope you dig!
More in a heartbeat!

Hey Petri! Thank you sooo much, pal! No, the series isn't sold out, all we've released so far are a series of sketchbooks for the various cons we've done here in the UK over the past few years, and the MOON! space log, a sort of companion which is still available through our site if you live here in the UK. If not, then just be sure to stay tuned to this thread, as the REAL first season of MOON! is coming, and it's gonna be an international release, more on this soon, buddy! Cheers!
So, as we're getting closer and closer to the April release of the SASQUATCH book, I wanted to show you another sneakedy-sneak peek at the MOON! tale. Here, then, is a little break down of the four main stages of a single panel in the adventure. More in-depth colour tutorials can be found in sequence in The Blink Twice DeviantArt gallery.
Secondly, here's a few snaps I did of the new products we'll have for the UK Web and Mini Comix Thing in London this Saturday (17th). Alongside our existing back catalogue we'll be launching the new MOON! Sketchbook and the One Night in the City Year One book (see previous posts), and all Blink purchases will be handed to you in one of our brand new super-fly-and-uber-coolio Blink Twice bags! Twisted rope handles? I should say so! Ha-Zaa!
Gonna be awesome!

Hey Petri.J! Thank you so much for saying you wanna get into the comic when it's launched, that's very cool of ya! We do indeed have a mailing list, it's RIGHT HERE. Join up and enjoy, bud! Cheers!
Well, what an exceptional time we had in London this Saturday just gone! That Web and Mini Comix Thing just gets better and better, as anyone who was there will testify. The Blink had such a ball, and it was awesome to meet so many great folks, especially so many of you guys from "A-Da' Web" as my man Strongbad might say. Seriously, thanks to all who stopped by the stand, it was awesome to meet you all, and an even bigger thanks to the several peeps who showed up with sketches they'd done for me before the show, that was sooooo frikkin' coolio!!!!!!
So, as promised, today's pic gives you that page from Sasquatch in full colour, more soon...!

Cool stuff Lorenzo!!! I want to buy the comic too!
How do you study all of those details? You use lot of reference material? I saw the page full of objects on some of the pages before. Do you do a lot of that kind of exercises?
Are you coming to Salon del Comic in barcelona? It's next month!
http://www.ficomic.com/0_0/HOME/default.cfm
Thanks for posting so much nice stuff!
Cheers!

I gotta tell ya - for the absolutely inspiring and amazing art, I'm not a huge fan of the website itself. I'm not sure if it's the color (white) or if it's the use of the *forbidden* comic sans font. I absolutely love the art, I would love to see it presented in a different manner, but that's just my two cents! |

Hey SolarC! Thank you so much for such kind words, pal, glad you like the look of MOON! I don't really study alot of reference stuff, rather I try to keep imagining and drawing alot of different objects and details all the time in sketches etc to build up my visual imagination, so that I can create quite intricate machinery, plantlife, buildings etc from scratch. Keeps it fresh, and frees me up to invent! Aw, I WISH we were coming to that con, just to see all the other guys ekhibiting - it looks MASSIVE! Sadly though, we're not, sorry! Will keep posting in here though, to make up for it, hope you enjoy!
Hey Iceprism! That's a good point, yes, I know what you mean about the site, it's not quite "visual" enough is it? To be honest, it's really just our studio site, as MOON! has a rather special on-line home coming, which I think will be much more your thing, news of this soon....!
So, two today, and they're both kinda' biggies!
To start with we have the very first sneak peek at a pencils panel from our forth-coming Indie Spinner Rack anthology MOON! adventure, more from that soon!
Secondly, I'm here to announce that, unbelievable as it may seem, we're discontinuing the entire series of single issues of Malcolm magic! Gasp! And you thought they'd be around forever?!! HA! If you wanna complete your collection, or just pic up a few copies of issue one to sell on Ebay for a massive profit in twenty years' time, then be sure to come see us at the big Bristol and London shows in May (more details of them soon). If, however, you can't make it to the shows, and you live in the UK, then you may wanna head on over to BROOMFELLA'S STORE. But hurry, you've only got until the 1st May, then those babies become RARE!!!
Cheers!

Hey Bluefley! Thank you sooo much for the awesome comment!! That's a great post, I'm really glad this stuff whisks you off into another world, as that's the qhole point of it. Glad you're gonna get into the comic, lots more gonna be posted up in here before it launches, so I hope you can check back in. Cheers!
Hey folks! Well, I been away for a while, mainly due to web-based problems, time to get back to a more regular fix of Blinky nonsense!
First up, a little promo piccie I knocked to celebrate the fact that we're in this month's copy (issue 17) of the excellent British mag IMAGINE FX! Nice!
Secondly, a huge thank you to everyone who voted for Malcolm in the first round of the Huge 2007 Eagle awards, the UK's main comics awards ceremony. We're very excited to now be in the final shortlist for "Best B &W Comic - British". All you need to do to try and help us grab that golden trophy is visit the Eagle Awards website before 22nd April, add your email address, then scroll down to category 13: "Award for Favourite Black and White Comic book - British". Tick the MALCOLM MAGIC box and click the 'submit' button at the bottom of the page. I hope you can help the funny bunny scoop the prize, but please don't do multiple votes under the same email, as they will get disqualified. Cheers, folks!
More soon!

Ho-kay, it's a vehicular-themed one today, for all you petrol-heads and grease-monkeys out there. Fist up, is a VERY late Easter pic. I actually drew this out for Easter LAST year, but never had a chance to finish colouring it. Regular forum-ers will recognise this as the camera caddy car from a T-shirt design I knocked up a while back. Well, once again I missed posting it up for Easter, and if I don't do it this year, it'll never go up, as there's already enough dubious life drawing of Ratt and Teron there to make me cringe a little (note in particular that Ratt's tail completely disappears in panel 3!) HAHA! So here it is, in it's semi-coloured form, hope you enjoy...
Next up, a tiny-tiny concept I did even longer ago of the main method of transport for Ratt and Teron within the 1st season of MOON! My intention has always been to build this machine up at full scale, possibly for shows, but really just so that I can run around town in it thinking I'm a dood. Well, back at the Blink Manor these past few weeks, the wheels of Kustomisation have finally been set in motion, and the old girl's starting to come together. A long way to go yet, but here's a couple of pics for those of you who wonder what I'm doing when I'm not scribbling the ole' funny pages. That's Mr Etherington Senior in one of those shots, the greatest dad in the world!
Cheers, folks, more in a bit!

So, for those of you who have met us at a show, or chatted in here, you'll know there's one question we always ask: "You are coming to Bristol, right?" And there's good reason for this, as The Bristol Comic Expo is certainly the biggest show of it's type here in the UK, and it's got a special place in the hearts of team Blink, not least since I live in this ole' town! The best news of course is that it's now just a few weeks away, and boy are we gonna have some new stuffs for ya'! More on all the rest soon, but for now, I wanted to show you the cover of the new MOON! Sketch book we'll be releasing for the show. Regular readers will know the drill: These mini-format beauties are a limited edition (75) and are FREE with every 10 spent at the Blink stand over the weekend of the 12th-13th May, then they're gone for good!
Yikes!
More soon, space cadets!

Okay, folks, so here's a fun one for ya!
With the launch of VIPER's Sasquatch Anthology just a few weeks away, we wanted to give you another look into the creative process that went into this first ever MOON! international release.
I thought I'd give you a break-down of a full-set reveal of soundstage two during the filming of "It Came From Over There!". As I've spoken in the past several times about the technical side of my drawing/colouring process, I wanted to talk this time about the concept of a pic like this, and how I try to use the environmental detailing to tell more about the situation/world the story is set in. I hope this is of interest to some folks, and if not, just ignore my prattle and check out the scribblings.
Hope you enjoy!
Lorenzo!

Hey Max! Haha! Sorry dude! Well, toaday's piccies will have a little less detail, well not much less...! Thanks for the support, buddy, lots more coming up this week!
Hey Neff! Haha! Well, I hope it's a good kinda' freaky! Hoho! Cheers, pal!
Lots of release announcements and piccies today!
The ole' Sasquatch anthology is out! Featuring an exclusive 15 page MOON! story "Memoirs of a Bigfoot", along with over 200 other pages of great stories by a ton of other awesome indie guys, this really is a must have! You should be able to grab this off the shelf/order in a copy to your local comic store, or you can pick it up direct from The Viper Store or HERE on Amazon. Go get some!
Another announcement for those of you heading to the Bristol show for the weekend, it's looking highly likely that Fat Chunk, Jamie Smart's awesome new underground B&W anthology comic o' joy, will be launched at the show! This baby features an exclusive 3-page MOON! mini adventure entitled "Everyone Love Kittykat", and tons of other great stuff besides. Jamie will be on a table directly next to the Blink stand, so come along and shoot the breeze, chipmunks!
Next up, for those of you getting geared up for season 1 of MOON!, I've decided to re-design how I present the sketches and concept work for the series. As you can see from the Killbot piece below, each concept will now come with info on which season/issue it relates to, and the script name of the character/machine/environment/etc. They will also be numbered, for those of you that like to get a complete collection of things.
Finally, the big one! Along with the forth and final Malcolm trade (of which more soon) we'll also be launching the new MOON! Space Log this month! Yoikes! Featuring 68 pages of concept art, character designs, and all sorts of other visual gems, along with a TON of new words by Bobber on many elements of the Mooniverse, this baby is packed to the rafters with joy! The planned launch is this weekend (11th/12th) at the Bristol show, but current print issues may mean we launch it at the London MCM Expo on the weekend of the 26th/27th instead.
Fingers crossed we'll have it at Bristol though you'll be able to pre-order it with FREE postage to any UK address if we don't.
We'll DEFINATELY have the new Malcolm book, the next 30 ONITC year one books, and the new 9th MOON Sketch book, along with our entire back catalogue, so that's exciting, eh?
Ha-zaa! more later this week ahead of the show, peeps!

So, here it is, folks, the final volume of Malcolm will be launched at the Bristol Comic Expo this weekend (12th/13th May)! Collecting together the final three issues (#10, #11, #12), along with a cover gallery and three all-new chapter splash pages, two of which I have shown here. This coincides of course with us discontinuing all the single Malcolm issues, so after the Bristol show and the London MCM expo in two weeks, the books are all you'll be able to get!
Whoip!
Secondly, those of you coming to the Bristol show will most probably be on the lookout for Fat Chunk, Jamie Smart's underground anthology of wonders! Here's a little sneak-peek taken from our three page mini-MOON! adventure, "Everyone Love Kittykat"
See you at the show, peeps, and if you pick up a copy of FC, tell Jamie Lorenzo sent you! Haha!

Well, what a show Bristol was!!! VERY good for the Blink in all kinds of ways, some of which I will tell you more about soon, but in the meantime I wanted to show you a few of the sketches I did at the show. Thanks SO much to all you guys who came over to say hey, buy some comics, or show us your great stuffs! It was all awesome!
Right off the back of Bristol we charge straight into the London MCM Expo, and it's gonna be a biggie! Due to ridiculously swift sales at Bristol, we're currently out of stock of the new Malcolm and MOON! books, but we're gonna do our best to have more printed ready for London. Either way, we'll also have the full back catalogue of Malcolm, MOON! and Tusk books and comics, and the brand new MOON! 10th Sketchbook!! As with previous shows, there'll be 75 of these numbered and signed puppies up for grabs, FREE with every 10 spent at the show on the weekend of the 26th/27th May. Those of you at the Bristol show will know we got through almost all 75 just on the Saturday, so be sure to get to the London show early to avoid missing out on this exclusive beauty!
Excellent, more con sketches from Bristol tomorrow!
Cheers!

Okay, so those of you who read this thread regularly will already know that despite my endless rambling in here, I don't actually write any of our comics. No, the fountain pen to my crayons is my ole' brother Robin, who creates and pens all our adventures. Up until now he's been fairly quiet on the web, but all that's about to change! A little while ago we were approached by top man Michael May from Comic World News, asking if we'd be interested in running a Blink column on their mighty site. The answer? Sweet baby cheeses!! Damn right! So, you can now catch my bro's thoughts on all the things that make us love comics each and every month in his "Comics Have Never Been so Much Fun" column. Go there, peeps!
Secondly, another sketch from the Bristol show here, produced for good buddy Super Monkey Boy over on DA...

Hey forum folks! Two more new-uns today!
First up, ahead of the huge LONDON MCM EXPO this weekend (26th-27th) I'm excited to announce that we're gonna have a load of copies of the fresh-out Sasquatch anthology, featuring an exclusive 15-page MOON! Adventure! Below is a little piccie of Ratt introducing an unknown "friend" to this awesome anthology, along with some snaps I took of the book and some of our story pages...
I've also posted a map on The Blink Blog along with a stock list for those of you coming to the show who want to know where we'll be/what we're bringing.
Secondly, the last of the Bristol Expo sketches for now, and it's girl for once! Yey!
Cheers, folks, see you at the show!

Whoooooo-eee! What a show THAT was!!! So, I'm back in Bristol after spending the bank holiday weekend tooling across London with Bo-bo in the ole' Amazon to and from the MCM Expo at the Excel centre. As usual, we had an awesome time, met a lot of new Malcolm and MOON! fans, saw a ton of regular Blink buddies and generally larked about in the name of selling comics.
Thanks to all who came and chatted to us, you guys make the shows for us so cheers, and we'll see you in October at the next one, but right now, bring on the summer!
Whoooop!
Oh, and I did a bit of sketching too, here's the first of 'em...

Hey folks, some random ones today! First up, the Blink were recently featured in uber-coolio Brit listings mag Venue, here's some shots...
I also just wanted to nip in and say that Fat Chunk, the awesome 60-page b&W monster underground cult indie SMASH, is now on sale allll over the world! Just GO HERE (and click the "COMICS" tab on the left of the page) and grab a copy! It's dead cheap (ONE DOLLAR!), as I'm sure you'll see, though postage costs a little due to current exchange rates and the fact that it's so darned PHAT! Here's some snaps of the book and our three-page exclusive MOON! tale...get some, kids!
Finally, another sketch from the recent London show...
More soon, peoples!
Lorenzo!
