ok...i hope someone can help me here...
i recently bought a second Maxtor 60 gb e-ide ata 133 , 7200 rpm's harddrive....i didnt have anymore IDE slots left on my motherboard, so i had to purchase a High Speed Dual Channel Ultra ATA 133 Controller card that fits in one of my pci slots.....i have my dvd rom/cd burner/250mb internal zip drive/and original 60 gb harddrive occupying both ide slots on my mother board....
i installed the card....along with the harddrive...everything in terms of the installation went fine....
however...its not showing up when i open up windows explorer...?? im guessing i have some setting either not on...or just wrong....i wish i could be more specific...at the moment...im still working on it....
the second harddrive is hooked up by itself to the pci controller....its set to slave at the moment....do i have to have it hooked up to the other harddrive for it to show up in explorer or what??
i wanted them to not share the same ide port...but still have the ability to dump whatever files i wanted onto one another....any suggestions? im goin crazy over here hehe..its prolly something so simple that i over looked it....
if anyone can help me out id reeeeeeeally appreciate it!! thanks in advance.... |

What did you mean installation went fine, how did you know it was fine? And did you set the right jumper setting on the HDD? |

does your bios recognize the fact that it's plugged in? Have you partitioned it? Try switching the drives around on the cables to see if the card is working... |

oh, and also, you've probably got to install your ata133 drivers on the drive if you haven't already, windows won't recognize it otherwise... these should have come with your motherboard. That's the thing you usually install when windows asks you if you want to install extra support for scsi or summat when you install the os. if you haven't then it won't be seen by windows. |

probaly drivers for the channel ultra thingie, then check your BIOS, then try formating it or something.
Why not just replace your zip drive with the new hard drive? |
