i have been doing some illustrations for a book. i'm trying to use simple 3d geometry and then painting over that in photoshop.
these were some of my earlier attempts, where i applied some simple textures in 3d.
some of the quick renders i did for exploring some ideas.
let me know what you like/dislike. |

really good. the "real" ones are much better than the tests too -- I love the cleaness of them.
the legs of the girl in the third picture are out of scale with her upper half. need to be bigger. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

IMO the 3D-Parts are to strong. They make the pics look hard and static.
Your drawings are lovely ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ *

or then you just have to polish your paint style for more crisped edges but then again, you still need soft areas in my opinion.. |

very interesting technique.. i like the contrast between the soft and hard lines in the 3rd one -- reminds me of the game "out of this world" |

thanks for your input. the hardness is wanted all the other flaws not :-/ my teacher wanted me to do sth that is a bit less "painterly" than i would usually do. i think i found sth in the 3d part that is interesting to explore further.
what i do not like so much are the compositions, they're not simple enough i think. also i have problems with keeping the style consistent the more pictures there are. well, lots of problems - so little time. |

these...
are...
excellent.
I love the simplicity (a fan of folk art) and the crisp definitions. The 'perspective' pieces stun me.
I decided to register just so I could respond to this thread. I would love to see the book when it is done.

Some of the 3d models look like 3d models in a painterly space.. the one with the little girl sitting in front of the cabinet in particular. I think its because of the hard straight lines that compose the cabinet and the direction the texture runs on the top.
I really love the palette you've got going on and the painterly feel.
very warm. very inviting. even on the ones that speak of loss and death. |
