hullo chaps
stuff I'm thinking about:
- effects & space helmet or no?
- my gamma/tonal key/values are well odd
- space suit clothing to be done
- the shit in the background is utterly confusing, what the hell is going on -- am I bothered?
- maybe it looks cool, like an optical illusion where you can't quite figure out how to interpret what you see?
- have I accidentally ripped 3nasty's idea (floating woman in the left side and weird floating stuff everywhere else)? If so, apologise
- forgot to organise the centre part of the bottom right portal |

Looking super cool Fred. Space scenes mess with my head because of the lack of the lack of atmospheric perspective.
I think it is a bit on the confusing side, but I'm sure you'll clear that up by the time its completed. I like the first version more, without the blue.
Maybe try taking that tan colored gridded surface up another quarter of the image, instead of splitting that space behind her so evenly. Just give a sliver of planet across the top. I think that might by a more interesting way of dividing up the composition.
Also, maybe try bringing the vanishing point on that gridded surface closer to the viewer and to the right. All those lines seem to run parallel and to the left, and its a little confusing.
Hmm, hard things to describe, let me know if that doesnt make any sense. _________________ artpad.org |

Looks very interesting so far. I like the cool colorsheme. The parts/shapes itself work great but as a whole it's as you said yourself a little confusing. I first thought she is sitting on this walkway (?) instead of actually floating in the air. Maybe you could add more rythm/grazie to her pose. Also think about her facial expression (in later staps of course), does she wonder what's happening to her or is it a daily trip to the stars?
So far I like the first version better. I think we don't have to know why she's wightless (energy field). The helmet tho looks really nice. Especially if it's that big and the hair floats around nicely.
Other than that I agree with what Cincinimo has said. More atmophere, more depth. Your general concept has much potential tho, keep up the good work!!
Oh, and I also have a girl...that's floating around,...was pretty much the first thing I thought of : ) I might boost that concept or make something different,...I am still at the idea finding phase but might post some thumbs soon. |

The composition looks cluttered, confused and a bit aimless IMO. I like the concept, but everything feels strangely shoved in the frame from multiple directions. The tonal ranges are certainly also a problem, being pretty even over separate parts of the picture. You have many strong angles in this composition and due to the common colour and tonal values of many of these strong directions everything is fighting against itself. I agree with your initial thoughts, things need clarifying. I really love the pose and especially the hands... they are intriguing. |

Hi there. I made a quick Paintover. Since I have my wacom at the other place I live I couldn't paint anything but I copied some of your shapes and moved them around, changed the compositing, and the overall values. This is just meant to be an inspiration. Keep it up!

Framing helps a great deal there Max, nice paintover. I like the more rectangular composition, feels much more balanced. Maybe even more vertical would be nice. |

Thanks for the great suggestions, they gave good food for thought. However, It's the first sketch I produced for the theme and I think I am going to dump this idea.
Thanks for the interest. I'll post any other WIPs I come up with in here. |

I'll make sure to keep an eye out for it. By the way, your latest works have been really impressive. More of that please! _________________ It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice - Scooter |
