Merg, saw that you played banjo in a thread on the Digi-art forum. How long have you been playing for? 5-string? What's ya fave tune to play at the moment? I've reverted back to Cripple Creek, and can't find much to play due to the lack of fellow pickers around here.

FYI, I've been playing for about 4 or so years, and been doin' it on my Hondo 5 string. @:-)

I played banjo for a while but eventually quit. Then the strangest thing happened, I grew all my teeth back and stopped having sex with my cousins.

Just kidding. I play guitar a little and know that banjo is much harder to play and make it sound good.

Well I'd better go. You probably have a lot of squirrel and possum hunting to get back to. So ma can start cooking.

Merg,
Good stuff! I've only had a teacher for a few months of my total banj time, and have had to teach myself the rest of the way. I'll have a look around for Sally Ann tab, I need to get away from the first 5 frets. @:-)
You on ICQ? Trade some tab sometime. *laughs*

Brain,

The tune that I'm working on now is "Sally Ann", but that up the neck stuff is killing me. After I finish with the trad. ver. then I think I'll move on to the Bela Fleck version. I'm currently playing a Blueridge 5-string and I've been playing for about 5-6 months. My teacher is guy by the name of John Schlocker and he teaches at Mc Cabe's.

Its great to see that other play as well.

Late,

Brain,

Not on ICQ, sorry. Pick up the Earl Scruggs book and that will have all the tab you need. Bela Fleck also does a really nice rendition of Sally Ann on his Snakes alive album along with jerry douglas. Another great song to play is Nashville Blues but you have to retune to D minor.
