Thanks Octavian for the Gnomon-wisdom! I instantly tried mullins approach to marquee really small sections of a grey canvas and scetch a little darker grey and lighter grey. Same fishermen-topic

And blown up, chewed up and colorized

Ha! Francis - you did the noise filter too. I like it alot, gives some texture/photo touch. But still not sure if it spoils me.

Francis, the best of your space opera ones so far, in my opinion. Great fake detail.

Mikko: Colllllooorz. Nice

ManiakS: I love how you handle so much detail with such raw strokes. I'd love to see a video of you working on a speedy like the last one with the nun (the hands for example seem to be made out of just a dozen strokes). Nice picture.

Value training. Not successful.

I'd been neglecting the speed painting recently but I started visiting again this past month and the quality is a high as ever. Very inspiring stuff guys!

This is a concept painting for a short film I'm working on. Please check out my thread in the WIP forum if you haven't already!

Skies are damn hard to paint...

@brokencow: Hey I didn't know you posted here, fantastic line work as always.

I'm beginning to lose the meaning of speedpaint. Not exactly sure what qualifies it anymore.

EDIT: hmm I seem to be getting that washed out effect in my pics too. It looks like mostly in the dark red.
