I wonder if anyone saw Taxi Driver, it's an old film but i just watched because someone at GTA3 forum said it was their favorite film so i had to see it :D

Well i think this film is a break from the usual hollywood films, as i watched more like an artwork than a movie.. anyways it was pretty weird so i have a few questions about it.

1. Was this shot on real ghetto streets or were those hookers and pimps acting?
2. Why did the main guy get a mohawk? If it is to look unrecognizable, why didnt he shave off all hair and wear different clothes?
3. Today i actually saw his green jacket on some guy, a chinese dude passed me on a bicycle and i went "what!" hehe, is it an army jacket or what?
4. Why the hell did he try to assassinate the givernor? I thought he was friendly with him, plus i didnt see point in doing that.
5. At the end he survived and wasn;t in jail, why not? Is it possible for a regular person to arm himself with guns and kill 10 people even if they all were criminals?

Those questions really bug me, i hope i get answers although it doenst seem like a big popular film but it is good.

Oh, and what's a 'panty hose'?!

1. Well, I know Jodie Foster isn't a real hooker, so I would assume their actors.

2. He's crazy

3. umm, hmhm. Don't know.

4. He's crazy.

5. Now I saw this movie a while ago, but I thought he was dead at the end? Can't remember.

It is a cool movie, if not a little old.

1.They were actors.
2.Because he was crazy.
3.Yes it's an O.D.(olive drab)Green army jacket. I have one too
4.Because he was crazy.
5.First, he wasn't in jail because it was a movie. Second, of course it's possible it happens every day. Not saying you would get away with it or it would be illegal.

It was an ok movie. I think it's a bit over-rated though.
I think the director was attempting to show the insanity of a man that felt he needed a mission. You have to think when this movie was made. It was right after the Vietnam war, so I think they wanted to show the effects of war on a man.

A better movie to watch would be "The Deer Hunter", also staring DeNiro.

If you want more Scorsese films(better ones, IMHO), try:

Goodfellas
The Last Temptation of Christ

Those two are his best(my opinion).

The Deer hunter is Brilliant, it was also the best picture of the year 1978 i think. it has one of the best (and the longest) wedding scenes ever made. Christopher Walken is exellent in his role!

Travis was 'crazy', i think that very last scene in his Taxi where he suddenly looks in the mirror describes that pretty well

The Last Temptation of Christ is good as well, i have the DVD with the commentary by Scorsese himself

If you need proof of how popular Taxi-Driver is, then just try to recall how many times you've seen movies, TV-series, sit-coms, comics, and so on, where suddenly there's a scene(Often featuring a mirror) where they start saying:

"Are you looking at me?

Are you looking at ME?"

That scene has been "homaged" to death. But it's still a great scene.

Deer Hunter is also great. A different kind of movie, more emotional(More Oscar stuff), but really great. One of my all-time favorite movies, since I whined my way into seeing it when I was way to young, and it made a huge impression on my mind. When I'm half-asleep, I still once in a while get small flashes of the chopper scene, although when I saw the movie again last year, it wasn't half as gruesome as I remembered it. Still pretty gruesome.

heheh, roundeye, yousa funny.

1) jodie foster actually studied a prostitute for the role. the different coloured glasses thing was a personality trait she borrowed from her.

2) no, it's like a 'get into action thing'. people don't normally just decide to shave half their hair off. it's like a sign of change, and of wildness. imho. that's not a real mohawk btw, de niro wore a skincap.

3) okay.

4) can't remember that bit. something to do with trying to piss of cybil shepherd's character, no doubt.

5) just pretend he wasn't it the us justice system, and that for once a sociopathic loser had a happy ending.

haven't seen deer hunter or last temptation of christ. but i highly recommend kundun, and raging bull. kind of opposite movies.

-Ken

I saw some behind the scenes of the movie and I can't remember who said it but the mohawk thing came from vietnam, a guy going on a suicide mission would supposedly cut his hair like that. I actually bought a vietnam infantry model kit a while back and one of the guys had a mohawk.

So now you know,
and knowing is half the battle..

GI JOE!!!

Raging Bull is one of my favorites.
De Niro is a great actor no doubt about it.
My favorite De Niro movie has got to beHEAT
now that is a killer movie.
I love the shoot out scene, those AR-10`s sound so brutal blazing down busy city streets.
Ronin was awesome too.
The Score was great, Ed Norton is a great actor as well, that guy can play any part.
Look at American History X compared to Fight Club.
