I recently saw the art of this guy on conceptart.org - His website: http://paperblue.net
You might know him already. I haven't seen anything from him until now which is weird cause theres LOTS of pics on his site, all top notch quality work.
Not sure how I could miss that for so long. Anyway,...

I was kind of shocked tho when I saw his stuff. I mean, it's truly amzing however some pics reminded me of,...well, just take a look at this pic for example: Image

This guy has awesome skills,...it's just that,...hmm,...what do you think?

Yeah, definitely some "inspired by spooge" images in there. Could almost call them studies.

And they're good, no doubt. He does have skill, so he doesn't need to skim so close to the mirror.

Mother.. of.. God...

I don't care who he's studying/copying. His skill shows through. Hat off, respect!

I like that guy.

One crit though, what spooge often talked about.. Drawing. This guy sure has great technique, but it also reveals that his perspectives and depth is often way off.. Difficult to explain, but anyone who's done 3d work can see that his arrangements are often veeery 2d.

Of course this is what we all suck at to be honest, but it's not like he's anywhere near the construction quality of spooge.

yeah, the likeness is very profound. not just the technique, but also subject matter.

no doubt he's good at what he's doing though, but it would be nice to see a bit of personal touch..

I think this style is now used by a whole movement of thousands of individuals.
His approach of starting his process where the last generation left off is just one more piece in chain of hundreds of years of visual development.

Don't you think?

I rather enjoy looking at a well executed painting than looking at a poor one. So for me, it's fine.
