I made this while sijun was down.
This is sumsort of a futuristic soldier of Nato-coalition. Made for modelling purposes in mind. (you know, overtly defined shapes and shit)
Even de-constructive criticism is welcome. |

Very nice. I really like the design. Especially the head is neat!
They way he holds the gun seems abit unusual.
Not sure about the bg eighter, he floats in the air.
Anyway, very ncie pic!! |

hey man, I like the way you rendered this one.
some of my feedback might be just a matter of taste, but still.
I agree with Max's input about how he holds the gun (puts a load of weight at his wrist and not very energy preserving, and his left hand seems to push the gun down and away from him). If he would have some kind of strap around his back from the gun (taking all the weight) then it could work perhaps.
The pose is not very relaxed either, sometimes I just try standing in a pose myself to see how comforting it is and if I would stand leaning on both feet I'd probably spread my legs more.
His head feels a bit squeezed, like an ant's. Might work still if one would make the head slightly bigger, otherwise it might look better heightened a bit.
Also, try to imagine him standing there with the gun removed. Would his hip area work or not? I'm not sure, but just a thought.
great render and design though! _________________ homepage:blog |

Thanks for crits, Max an Daryl!
You both are absolutely right but I mainly wanted to practise "renderin" rather than concentrating on natural pose and functional design (lousy excuse). Still I will try to consider these things in the future.
Thanks. |

Head seems a bit small to me for such a large body.
I think the issue with the gun is the that parts forward seem to suggest a shape that isn't consistent with parts aft; there are quite a few angular shapes that within shapes that don't seem to match up. Notice the large (what I am guessing) muzzle flash suppressor; the shape in the front matches the vents, while it looks a bit off with the vents towards the back - the angles don't match, that is. Also where the character's right hand is, there's the putty/olive colored brace looking thing that has different appear angles around the gun body than those suggested recessing back towards the other hand. Just an observation.
Overall your execution is well done. Nice. _________________ - Tom Carter

He looks utterly stiff to me As if he was one of those funny looking merchendise figures you can buy in kids stores. Neat gun barrel though. _________________ Fantasy art, Sci-fi, Surreal, Space and Abstract art - check out my gallery! |

Nice rendering man!
About the gun; i think the problem with it is that it points at the same direction as the character so the left arm couldn't actually hold it like this - too far. Moving the arm would work i guess :)
Otherwise no complains. Looking forward to more renderings.
PS. Hey, i beat you by 1 post by writing this one :) |
