do u mean the swatches pallet? no - but u can make one Smile

if u mean to select a colour thats already on the screen - the i key will give u the eye dropper if you mean the colour slider then F6 will do it

oh and RTFM before asking these questions!

Press Alt and click on the canvas. Works while using any brush tool. (Dunno if this is what you're after).

Pretty sure there is, but you can also create an action to display it... or if you are using CS2, you can assign your own hot key to it. (Akt+Shft+Ctrl+k to display the custom shortcut dialog. )

B0b, i mean the color picker. As in when you double click on the foreground or background color showing on your tools bar. I read the fucking manual and couldn't find.

Mikko K, thanks, knew that one already Wink it's kinda useless in the early run, when most of the color needs to be taken through the menus. And that's slow... Sad

eyewoo, tried but couldn't find... only the colorwell, which is the same B0b tried to hand me... the one that can be displayed with F6. but it has so limited colors.

oh well, guess i'll have to live with doubleclicking the foreground color box Confused

Press F6 to open the "color" window.

There is a small arrow in the corner, click it. Change the default "RGB sliders" to HSB sliders.

Then you have separate controls for hue, saturation and value. It may seem clumsy at first, but it can seriously help your painting.

thank you! that looks quite interesting... i'll have to play around with it a bit to start understanding the interaction between different values of hue saturation and brightness.

tattis!

i don't know about cs2... but in cs there was no way to trigger Color Picker dialog, not with custom shortcuts not via Photoshop API with scripts. Even posted on Adobe forums about this... doubt they did anything.

p.s.
before telling ppl to rtfm read the fucking message yourself.

i'll say it again, if you mean the swatches pallet there isn't one..

there is no such pallet called color picker..

the eye dropper could be classed as a color picker as it picks up a colour u select - shortcut for that is i or a quick key when painting is the Option key on the mac or Alt key on the PC will change the pencil or brush tool to the eye dropper as long as you have that key held..

lmao... no need to say anything again, you were an arrogant smartass and you got called on it.

the question was about color picker:

Notice the title of the window - it says Color Picker

You have no solution to the problem posted above and you tell them to rtfm? There are numerous ways to pick color in ps, but only one "Color Picker". And now you are twisting out of it by trying to redefine the original question and justify your snobbish bullshit.

A year or so ago I was looking very hard (digging through adobe script api) to find something that could trigger this and posted the same question only to get little wankers tell me to press f6 and rtfm next time.

oooh err don't get ur knickers in a twist Wink sorry i don't use the 'color picker' dalogue box that much so thought he was talking about a pallet, hense why i was trying to varify what he ment..

why not just click on the colour square in the color pallet? - f6 (if the color pallet isn't up) and click?

dear rtfm'er, the whole point is to eliminate that extra move pointer-pop window-move pointer-click... its a lot nicer to just hold down a key on a keyboard and have the window pop up.

this is the original problem which you in your infinite rtfm wisdom are still not getting. what difference does it make if you click in pallete or fucking toolbox...

and since you are such an avid rtfm'er should you have known about color picker to begin with?

Drunken Monkey.....hahaha. Thats funny.

To be honest....pointing and clicking isnt that annoying to me. Confused I have CS2, and have set my..."palletes" to how I want them. Maybe you can do that? I have color swatches at the top right, history box in the middle, and layers at the bottom. Is there someway you can do the same?

thing is,.. i have no set palette rather just compare existing colors, and constantly alt+clicking will move picture to a less colorful result.

Also painting with pushing "tab" on and off all the time to hide the interface for extra space... this way i need to trigger too many things to get my color picked.

Its not a big problem at all , just convenience that would be nice. Thanks for you thoughts though.

http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=76315

here's a link to a solution for windows users from conceptart.org forums, as for mac users like myself.. i tried a similar solution using a program called spark to assign a shortcut to an applescript, but haven't got the script part working right yet. here's the script if anyone is interested or knows better Wink

tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS2" to activate
tell application "System Events"
tell process "Adobe Photoshop CS2"
click at {24, 370}
end tell
end tell
end

the idea with both solutions is to add a shortcut to click at the location of the color picker.. hope that helps or at least informs Confused
