I've got a built in AGP 8mb accelerator (yeah yeah, your all jealous).
We'll heres the question : I if I buy a PCI card will it overwrite the AGP, work in conjunction or is it a case of having to disable the AGP in the BIOS?. Or maybe it all depends on the PC and/or cards?

I'm not with my PC (at work) and I just thought of this - if my card is built in does this definitly mean that I don't have any AGP slots?

Apologies if any of the answers are considered obvious

If the card is soldered on the the agp slot, in most cases it is if you buy a computer from compaq or hewlwtt pacard, then it will be hard to configure. If not, then the drivers from the PCI card should automatically configure the card for it's settings. btw, why buy PCI when you have AGP??

Soldered to the slot??? If its intergrated you most likely have NO agp slot. You need to look at the motherboard manual and see if there is a jumper setting you can use to disable the card. Most likely there will not be an option in the BIOS. I personally would suggest a new motherboard without the intergrated junk. Let me guess.. you have a intergrated sound card too right?

Yes, yes I do. Though I new nothing of PC's when purchasing it (we'll...bugger all).

....hold on, buy a new mother board!, not exactly fucking cheap. We'll I suppose you didn't say it would be.

The reason behind this is I can't run half the friggen games now cause they all require 3D support, as I asume your all aware. My PC was good 18 months ago, now game recommendations are more then I have. Same old bloody story

No, intergrated means that the "video chips" if you will are mounted on the mother board along with all the other chips. There is no soldered card. Soldering it would ruin the card and the board.

Lukias: Check your manual and see if you can disable it in the BIOS. New motherboards ARE cheap by the way.
