ok I don't have a link to this one, as I read this from a Finnish newspaper. It's originally published by Reuters so you bet this is true! Also the paper I read this from is the most respected in Finland, and never posts spoof items.. I just quickly translated it, it's full of grammar errors because for some reason, my brain isn't quite working right now....

In Hungary, a crew of people were renovating an old house. They found a rum-barrel with some rum left, and decided to drink the rest. After drinking, they started moving the barrel, but while doing so, they noticed the barrel to be lot heavier than an empty barrel was supposed to be. The crew apparently decided that it would be easier to roll the barrel around than to carry it, but as they turned it to it's side, a corpse fell out of it.
Later the police discovered that the wife of that corpse had smuggled her husband's body from Jamaica in order to avoid paying the huge costs it would have taken to transport a dead body to Europe. The husband had died during their vacation 20 years ago, and had been inside the barrel since then.
The renovators commented the rum to have tasted "not too ordinary". |

Haha, that's funny.
The reason they couldn't tell that the Rum had a 20 year old corpse rotting in it is because rum already tastes like rotting human flesh and feces. Haha, they thought it tasted a bit unusual... Not a lot, just a bit...not enough to stop drinking it. |

I bet they actually loved the taste and now secretly kill people and put them in rum barrels to re-create the awesomeness! |

Actually yes they did love the taste. Heres the proper translation:

BUDAPEST, Hungary - Hungarian builders who drank their way to the bottom of a huge barrel of rum while renovating a house got a nasty surprise when a pickled corpse tumbled out of the empty barrel, a police magazine Web site reported.
According to online magazine zsaru .hu, workers in Szeged in the south of Hungary tried to move the barrel after they had drained it, only to find it was surprisingly heavy and were shocked when the body of a naked man fell out.
The Web site said that the body of the man had been shipped back from Jamaica 20 years ago by his wife in the barrel of rum in order to avoid the cost and paperwork of an official return.
According to the Web site, workers said the rum in the 300-liter barrel had a special taste so they even decanted a few bottles of the liquor to take home.
The wife has since died and the man was buried in a proper grave. |

Well at least it's been long enough since I've eaten that I have time to prepare for its inevitable return as opposed to an instant reimbursement directly after eating.
Thanks! _________________ Heads you live

Hahha, this rivals the news from China I relay in my blog. She could've at least given him a proper burial or cremation. |

It's not a good idea to drink that kind of stuff by one's own choice. Must be unhealthy! |

Wouldn't the alcohol take care of any unhealthy stuff? |

gLitterbug: probably it would kill a lot of bacteria etc, but you know... guess the body wouldn't decompose in alcohol, so you don't get body parts into your drink |

Yeah, that' right altough it can't destroy everything. Maybe theres some kind of bacteria that likes alkohol.
Who knows. I have heard lots of weird stuff from these weird beeings. Evolution is powerful.
Hmm, anyway, doesn't that count as cannibalism...? |

Only if you serve the corpse as rum-marinated specialty I guess. Drinking the rum I'd say is just weird, but not cannibalism. Not that I would drink the rum in the first place. |

I don't know why everyone thinks otherwise, but I've always enjoyed the flavor a nice ripe corpse adds to the average mug o' rum. You guys are strange.

Hey, in China they put all sorts of things in their alcohol. Snakes, lizards, old shoes.. I guess some Chinese witch doctors say that it's good for their health. Like those Shaolin cigarettes with Ginseng. LOL
And also, i heard something about Tequila with frog (?) in it. |

I remember seeing small dead animals (like frogs etc) stored in some sort of liquid in biology class. I think the liquid was some sort of alcohol but can't remember exactly.. and the creatures stayed pretty much untouched in there, didn't decompose at all. Maybe that's the tequila with frog Shizo was talking about
It would have sucked if corpse had decomposed into the drink and you had these small bits of meat in your drinks. Not that it wouldn't have sucked anyways.. |

I know what you're talking about, but offhand I don't think that's drinking alcohol. I can't remember what exactly it was called though, as it as been many, many years since the days of dissecting frogs in class. _________________ Heads you live

That's fine actually, what I really hate are those sick scams which they don't seem to grow out of, like putting all kinds of chemicals and shit into ordinary foodstuffs so they look, smell, taste and sell better, or idiotic things like making fake plastic inedible eggs, or rearing animals and poultry illegal or not in totally abysmal conditions. I've grown to never trust goods from China too easily, especially stuff that'll eventually end up in my body. _________________ Derelict Studios|Godwin's Space |
