The bastard side of me couldn't help but chuckle at the title of the film. "Bum Fights".. so utilitarian, yet so explicit. I kept thinking of all these terrible alliterations, too. Bum boxing. Bum brawl. Tramp tussle. Hard-hitting homeless.

The exploitative nature of this film is sickening, however. Reality tv is usually based on the suburban majority-- the Tom's and Jill's of society, and puts them in unusual scenarios with thematic premises. You would not find these people punching the shit out of each other, and that's where the problem lies. If you got homeless individuals to, say, appear on Fear Factor, then it would be fine. There's no difference between Tom and Toothless Tim there. However, this is analogous to prostituting crackwhores. These guys need the money, and would be willing to harm themselves to do it. Using that to your advantage is exploitation, not entertainment.

In a country of Jerry Springer and backyard wrestling, who would be surprised to see this?
